Chief Executive & President Southern California Division, CommonSpirit Health

In 2019, Sprengel was named chief executive and president of the Southern California Division of CommonSpirit Health, recently renamed from Dignity Health. The division includes 18 acute-care nonprofit hospitals across Central California and Southern California. Sprengel oversees more than 25,000 employees and nearly 7,000 physicians at 17 acute-care hospitals and several additional facilities. In Los Angeles County, CommonSpirit Health has four hospitals with roughly 1,500 licensed beds and more than 2,000 physicians: California Hospital in downtown Los Angeles and Glendale Memorial Hospital among them. Prior to joining Dignity Health, Sprengel, a former emergency room staff nurse, served in executive posts at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank.
