LA500 2022: Johnese Spisso

Spisso has been the No. 2 executive at UCLA Health since 2016 and the top executive in charge of the hospital system. She oversees four hospitals – the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center, UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital, and the Stewart and Lynda Resnick Psychiatric Hospital – as well as more than 180 outpatient clinics and offices. The hospitals in Westwood and Santa Monica were ranked No. 1 in California and No. 3 nationally last year by U.S. News & World Report. Before joining UCLA, Spisso, a registered nurse, spent 20 years as chief health system officer and vice president of medical affairs for the University of Washington in Seattle.
