Coffey is only City National’s fourth CEO since the company was founded in 1954. The bank’s expansion has continued under Coffey’s watch, with assets increasing 21% to $91.5 million last year from $75.8 million the previous year. Its employee count has increased 12.5% to 5,600 from 4,975 in January 2021. Prior to joining the bank in 2019, Coffey was chief executive of J.P. Morgan’s U.S. Private Bank. She also spent more than 20 years in various leadership positions at the firm’s investment bank and also chaired J.P. Morgan’s Reputation Risk Committee in North America and led its Women’s Network.
