Pasadena-based engineering and consulting firm Tetra Tech Inc. on May 25 announced it had acquired Washington D.C.-based Kaizen Co., a development consulting firm focused on emerging international markets. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Kaizen provides development advisory and management consulting services for developing nations, with a focus on improving health, education, sustainable economic growth and governance. The company, which has roughly 150 employees, has joined Tetra Tech’s international development practice.
Tetra Tech, which has about 20,000 employees, has in recent years won several U.S. Agency for International Development contracts to provide consulting services in different emerging countries around the globe. Given this, Tetra Tech executives said Kaizen is a natural fit.
“Tetra Tech has developed and applied innovative and scalable solutions for our clients in the international development sector for more than 40 years,” Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech’s chief executive, said in the announcement. “The addition of Kaizen enables us to expand our management consulting capabilities and technologies to further enhance economic growth and prosperity in developing countries worldwide.”
