A one-year reprieve was given Monday to seven companies operating shops and restaurants at Los Angeles International Airport as officials prepare to open a new set of retail and dining options sometime during the new year.
The Board of Airport Commissioners granted the lease extensions because it took longer than anticipated to award a new round of concession deals at LAX earlier this year.
As a result, McDonald’s Corp., Camacho’s Restaurant and The Body Shop will remain in Terminals 4, 5, 7 and 8 until new stores and eateries are ready to move into the airport sometime next year. Also remaining for up to another year are Delaware North Partners, Creative Host Services, Airport Management Services and Eurotal. However, the airport commission did not vote on whether to extend a contract for HMS Host International, which has maintained some sort of presence at LAX for nearly 50 years.
