Lucky, Juicy on the Block

New York fashion company Fifth & Pacific Cos. reportedly is hoping to sell two well-known boutique brands with Los Angeles roots: Lucky Brand and Juicy Couture.

Sources told the Wall Street Journal that investment bankers Perella Weinberg Partners and Centerview Partners have been shopping the brands on behalf of Fifth & Pacific, which changed its name from Liz Claiborne last year after its flagship brand was sold to retailer JC Penney.

Selling Lucky and Juicy would leave Fifth & Pacific with its strongest brand, accessory maker Kate Spade. Lucky Brand, a Vernon denim maker, still sells well, but Arleta-based Juicy Couture, known in the early 2000s for its designer velour track suits, has waned in recent years. Both brands still operate retail stores.
