Entrepreneur and philanthropist John “Jack” B. Gilbert died on Aug. 2 in Oxnard of complications from pneumonia. He was 91.

Gilbert was chairman of TOLD Corp., a large real estate developer. and a former board of regents member at California Lutheran University. Both he and his wife Carol were considered the most generous lifetime donors in the history of the university.

He was the founder of Thousand Oaks Land and Development Company, later shortened to TOLD Corp.

A memorial service is planned for 10 am, Tuesday, Aug. 14 at CLU’s Samuelson Chapel.
