A new multifamily development has been proposed for Westwood.
Landmark Properties recently filed a revised development application with the Los Angeles City Planning Department for an 84-unit apartment project in Westwood Village. Initial plans called for 56 units.
The Metropolitan at Los Angeles, as it’s being called, would be located at 504 Glenrock and 505 Landfair avenues and rise anywhere from eight to 12 stories.
Plans call for the development of an 84-unit multifamily project, of which 12 would be classified as affordable.
West Adams-based Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects is designing the building, which is set to feature a number of amenities including a pool, fitness area, recreation rooms and landscaped outdoor areas.
“This neighborhood is desperately in need of newly built, high-quality housing, especially affordable units, as the majority of residential opportunities are in older buildings,” Jason Doornbos, executive managing director of development for Landmark Properties, said in a statement.
“The project site in North Westwood Village is a logical location for increased density given its adjacency to the forthcoming Purple Line extension, UCLA and the large number of major employers in the greater Westwood Village community,” he added.
If approved, The Metropolitan at Los Angeles would be the third project in Los Angeles for the Athens, Georgia-based real estate developer. The company is currently under construction on another Westwood Village project and one in Exposition Park.
Landmark originally filed an application for the Metropolitan site in October 2023 but decided to revise the project to take advantage of density bonus incentives by including affordable housing, according to a release. It is seeking an 85% increase in density.
