The former Marina del Rey office of legendary automobile designer Carroll Shelby has been sold along with two other office buildings for $6.5 million, it was announced Monday.
Lee & Associates brokers James Wilson and Patrick Ayau, who represented buyer 1038 Princeton Drive MDR LLC, and seller Patton Investments, respectively, did not disclose terms of the deal for 1038-1040 Princeton Drive and 1042 Princeton Drive. The buyer plans to remodel and reposition the complex, which totals 34,000 square feet.
“In addition to the history of this property, the buildings, which were built in the 1950s, are made up of red brick and high ceilings,” Wilson said.
Shelby is known for the Shelby American Inc.’s Shelby American Cobra in the 1960s, and later a series of Mustang performance cars for Ford Motor Co. The 1042 Princeton Drive address, which had a Venice address at the time, was the office Shelby occupied during his Shelby American years.
