Tetra Tech Inc. said Tuesday that it was awarded a multi-year contract, worth up to $200 million, to provide navigation technical assistance to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The Pasadena company will provide engineering and technical support services in connection with the FAA’s navigation, landing and lighting systems. The federal agency is moving to a more integrated ground- and space-based navigation system.
“As the number of (commercial airline) passengers continues to grow, the FAA faces an increasingly complex challenge in making flight safe, efficient, and cost-effective,” said Chief Executive Dan Batrack.
The initial contract is for $70 million, but the scope of work would grow to $200 million over seven years if all options are exercised.
Shares were down 31 cents, or 1 percent, to $24.44 in midday trading on the Nasdaq.
