Prominent Local Real Estate Broker Missing

Veteran commercial real estate broker Ed Rosenthal was reported missing Sunday evening after his car was found left over the weekend at the Black Rock campground in Joshua Tree National Park.

The disappearance raised concerns in the Los Angele real estate community given the extreme triple digit temperatures in the Mohave Desert. Rosenthal, 64, told colleagues he was going to Palm Springs to celebrate two recent deals he had brokered.

The National Park Service is leading the search effort, which is being conducted on foot and by helicopter, said Jason Megowan, a dispatcher with the Federal Interagency Communications Center in San Bernardino.

Rosenthal, who operates his own company called New Downtown Brokerage, had recently brokered the sale of Clifton’s Cafeteria and several properties connected to the downtown Eastern Columbia condo building.

Rosenthal is known as the poet-broker of downtown. He’s penned poems on the community for years, with topics ranging from historic buildings to business and civic personalities.

Anyone with information on Rosenthal’s whereabouts is urged to call the Federal Interagency Communications Center at 909-383-5651.
