Downtown L.A. commercial real estate giant CBRE Group Inc. has acquired one of its affiliates, CBRE Columbia, a commercial real estate services firm in South Carolina.
As a result of the acquisition announced Monday, CBRE now own all three of its South Carolina affiliates, with the others located in Greenville and Charleston. The company acquired all three of former affiliates over the past 18 months, according to CBRE spokesperson Robert McGrath. He said the company sees the area as being a promising one for future growth.
“The southeast is a growth opportunity for CBRE so it made good business sense to further integrate the South Carolina operations into our regional service offering,” McGrath said. “We continue to have affiliates in certain other secondary markets so that we can have on-the-ground resources to meet client needs.”
CBRE makes a habit of acquiring affiliate firms. Last year, it acquired affiliates in Thailand, as well as in Louisville, Ky., and in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
CBRE shares were flat, ending the day at $38.58.
