When Paul Little signed on as chief executive of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce & Civic Association a little more than two years ago, the organization didn’t even have a voice mail system.
The group wasn’t incapable. It just adhered to an old-school philosophy that didn’t emphasize technology.
Now, the chamber has taken several technological leaps in short order, with a Facebook page and Twitter account. Last week, it added an Internet video series called “Trade Secret.”
The first short video follows two private investigators who interview chamber members as they investigate a successful local business. Actors and business people participated in the production, which debuted March 30.
“I’m in my mid-50s, but I have a 21-year-old son and an 18-year-old daughter,” Little said, “and experiencing the way they use technology makes me think about how we, as a business organization, need to think along those same lines.”
OnWeb Television, a chamber member and Pasadena new-media consulting company, created the 12-part series that will air every two weeks for the next six months. It can be viewed on the company’s YouTube channel – youtube.com/
user/OnWebTelevision – with links from the chamber’s Web site and Facebook page.
OnWeb’s founders, the husband and wife team of James Tucker and Patricia Duff Tucker, enjoyed working with the group.
“Pasadena isn’t quite the normal chamber – it’s fun,” Duff Tucker said.
And it even has voice mail these days.
