THE BUZZ: Another blockbuster year for Spielberg. Received Presidential Medal of Freedom in November. Coming off “Jurassic World” success, his “Bridge of Spies” received Oscar nomination for best picture. His adaptation of Roald Dahl’s “BFG” for Disney will hit U.S. theaters in July. Meanwhile, Spielberg’s new Amblin Partners back at Universal Pictures, studio where he reportedly began as unpaid intern before landing first contract there with short film “Amblin” in 1968. New Amblin partners include Participant, Reliance Entertainment, and Entertainment One. Skoll’s company put in $200 million, with reported $300 million in total equity plus $500 million debt syndication. Donated $1 million to Priorities USA Action – PAC supporting Hillary Clinton. Spielberg and wife, Kate, attended recent Clinton fundraiser at George Clooney’s Studio City home. He and Capshaw have seven children. In addition to Pacific Palisades house, couple owns residences in New York; Long Island; and Naples, Fla.
