Gov. Jerry Brown named Jonathan “Jay” Sures, co-president of United Talent Agency, to the University of California Board of Regents on Jan. 4, a move that came 48 hours before Brown ended his gubernatorial term on Jan. 7. Sures, 51, of Los Angeles, rose in the ranks at Beverly Hills-headquartered UTA, the entertainment industry’s second biggest talent agency by number of clients. He started out as mailroom clerk in 1989 and ascended to managing director. Sures’ clients have included a bevy of news media personalities including Glenn Beck and Chuck Todd.
