Industry Honor: AvatarLabs, an online marketing firm based in Encino, has been named Agency of the Year: Digital Creative by thinkLA, a Santa Monica non-profit that supports the marketing, media and advertising industries. AvatarLabs is known for creating digital marketing campaigns for blockbuster films, including this year’s “Hunger Games” and “Avengers.”

CALABASAS

Financing Partnership: MyCorp., a Calabasas firm that provides online corporation and LLC services to small and midsize businesses, has formed a partnership with Guidant Financial, a small-business financing firm in Bellevue, Wash. MyCorp. and Guidant have collaborated to increase startup financing opportunities for small businesses.

BEVERLY HILLS

Overseas Focus: RealD Inc., a Beverly Hills maker of 3-D technologies, has reached a deal to put its products on 100 screens in SMI Corp. Ltd.’s China movie theater circuit. SMI is a Hong Kong holding company that operates cinemas under the Stellar International Cineplex brand in more than 40 locations across China. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

European Tour: Front Row Networks Inc., a Beverly Hills concert producer-distributor, has reached an agreement to distribute its concerts to cinemas throughout Europe with Dcinex, a Liege, Belgium, digital content and theater service company. Dcinex will distribute 2-D and 3-D live and prerecorded events by Front Row. Front Row is a wholly owned subsidiary of Writer Group Film Corp., a Beverly Hills creator of entertainment content.

COMMERCE

Traveling Pants: Joe’s Jean Inc., a Commerce apparel company, has signed a multiyear distribution agreement for France with Advanced Retail, a Paris apparel distributor. Advanced Retail will continue to operate Joe’s shops in department stores Galeries Lafayette and Printemps, and will take over Joe’s Paris office and showroom.

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES

Defense Contract: Aecom Technology Corp., a downtown L.A. engineering services company, has been awarded a $70 million deal with the Department of Defense’s Washington Headquarters Services organization. Under the five-year contract, Aecom will provide construction management services for ongoing projects at the Pentagon Reservation in Arlington County, Va., and other facilities.

Building Purchase: Sorgente Group of America, the New York-based U.S. division of the Rome real estate company, has acquired downtown L.A.’s historic Fine Arts Building for $28.5 million. The 12-story, 120,000-square-foot building, at 811 W. Seventh St. is also known as the Global Marine House. Sorgente has hired Newport Beach’s RiverRock Real Estate Group to manage the property.
