SUN VALLEY

Broadened Focus: XTend Medical Corp., a Sun Valley company that specializes in information technologies and diagnostic devices for the health care industry, has signed a letter of intent to purchase JoyFull Genius Inc., a Thousand Oaks entertainment company. XTend recently announced plans to change its name to MultiCorp International Inc. as it seeks to grow and diversify its portfolio. Company officials said that the JoyFull Genius acquisition will be the first of many in the next six to 18 months. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

WESTLAKE VILLAGE

Taking Flight: Row 44 Inc., a Westlake Village provider of in-flight broadband entertainment services to commercial airlines, has signed a deal with Moscow-based Transaero Airlines. Row 44’s services will be provided on Transaero routes within Russia, and from Russia to the Caribbean, North America, Europe, North Africa and Middle East. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

CHATSWORTH

Movie Library: Image Entertainment Inc., a Chatsworth film distributor, has acquired the library of Amity Entertainment Inc., a Nashville, Tenn., home video company. Image’s acquisition of more than 100 titles includes the “Ernest” comedy movies, as well as almost 50 martial-arts films. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

LANCASTER

Grand Opening: The city of Lancaster opened its Museum of Art and History, at 665 W. Lancaster Blvd., on May 5. The new museum, designed by architect Mark Lehman, is nearly 20,000 square feet, and includes five galleries, a store and a rooftop patio area.

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES

Equity Investment: Oaktree Capital Management LP, a downtown L.A. private-equity firm, has reached a deal to acquire Osmose Holdings Inc., a Buffalo, N.Y., company that specializes in wood preservation, and utility and railroad asset management. James Spengler will remain as Osmose chief executive. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

WESTSIDE

CENTURY CITY

Latin American Connection: OpenGate Capital LLC, a Century City private-equity firm, has completed its acquisition of Getronics Latam, a portfolio of information and communication companies, from KPN, a telecommunications firm in the Hague, Netherlands. Getronics Latam has more than 2,000 employees, and generates more than $150 million in revenues from operations in Brazil, Mexico and Colombia. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

SOUTH BAY

LOS ANGELES

Real Estate: Kanak LLC has purchased a Long Beach real estate property that includes an Arco AmPm service station and convenience store, and a coin-operated laundry for $3 million from Seo II LLC. The 1001 Redondo Blvd. property features an approximately 2,900-square-foot convenience store building, a 600-square-foot laundry and a 500-square-foot space available for lease. Kanak will operate the service station and laundry.
