Moving In: Lift-It Manufacturing Co. Inc., a Vernon maker and seller of slings and safety equipment, has purchased a Pomona industrial building for $4.06 million from Seventh Street Development. Lift-It is moving to the 38,678-square-foot building at 1603 W. Second St.

New Move: Inner Power Yoga has moved from its longtime home in Calabasas to a larger space in Woodland Hills. The yoga studio, at 21928 Ventura Blvd., has taken a 2,400-square-foot location formerly occupied by Le Bon Bakery. Owner Linda Pushkin-Suffin, who opened the Calabasas studio in 1998, says she will boost the number of classes offered each week.

Healthy Boost: Valley Community Clinic, a North Hollywood provider of primary care and other medical services, has received a $150,000 grant from the California Wellness Foundation, a Woodland Hills non-profit that works to improve the health of Californians. The grant will go to support the clinic’s new prenatal center.

Taking Over: Lowe’s Cos. has sold a Canoga Park office structure for nearly $4.88 million to Valley College of Medical Careers, a building tenant. The three-story property, at 8399 Topanga Canyon Blvd., totals 38,113 square feet. Valley College of Medical Careers will eventually expend on the second and third floors.

Financing Deal: Response Genetics Inc., a Boyle Heights maker of diagnostic tests for cancer, has raised more than $7.8 million from the private placement of approximately 5.3 million common shares. New investors accounted for the majority of the purchase agreements.
LOS ANGELES
In the Swim: OriginOil Inc., an L.A. developer of technology turning algae into transportation fuels, has partnered with Aquaviridis Inc., a Preston, Minn.-based commercial algae grower. The two companies have teamed up to develop algae production at Aquaviridis’ facility in Mexicali, Mexico, as a potential model for other algae production sites. OriginOil will also use the facility to test company innovations.
