Taking Off: Ducommun Inc., a Carson aerospace and defense manufacturer, has received a multiyear contract from Parker Aerospace to produce circuit board assemblies for use in the fuel management system of Airbus A350 aircraft. The contract has a potential value in excess of $20 million. Parker Aerospace is a unit of Irvine’s Parker Hannifin Corp.

Metal Move: Revolution Capital Group, a private equity firm in Century City, has acquired Maysteel, an Allenton, Wis., maker of sheet metal enclosures. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Search Investment: Kayne Partners, the growth private equity group of Century City’s Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, has invested in Search Optics, a San Diego digital marketing firm with a focus on the automotive sector. Search will use the money to develop its products and expand its market presence. The size of the investment was not disclosed.

Positive Results: Puma Biotechnology Inc. reported positive results of its Phase II clinical trial of its investigational drug PB272 (neratinib) for the treatment of breast cancer. The news sent shares up above $77 in trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Dec. 5, a one-day increase of more than 66 percent. Puma, a development stage biopharmaceutical company, still must put neratinib through another trial round.
Software Pickup: Aurora Capital Group, a Westwood private equity firm, has completed its acquisition of the insurance solutions division of Zywave Inc., a Milwaukee provider of insurance software. Aurora acquired the asset from San Francisco’s Vista Equity Partners.

Staffing Deals: On Assignment Inc., a Calabasas temp and permanent staffing company, has completed the $28.7 million sale of its Allied Healthcare business, which provides professionals to the rehabilitation health care market, to Cross Country Healthcare Inc. of Boca Raton, Fla. On Assignment also agreed to acquire CyberCoders Holdings Inc., a permanent-placement firm based in Irvine, for $94 million from Westwood private equity firm Riordan Lewis & Haden. On Assignment also has completed the acquisition of Whitaker Medical, a Houston physician staffing firm that serves the southeastern United States, for $17.1 million.

New Shop: Newegg Inc., an online retailer based in City of Industry, has opened its first physical store. The new outpost, at the company’s Industry warehouse, is being called a hybrid center because in addition to viewing new technologies such as video game consoles and 4K TVs, customers can also pick up online orders.

Residential Purchase: Newport Beach’s Schroeder Management Co. has acquired a Whittier apartment building for $5.16 million from private investors. The three-story, 35,204-square-foot property, at 7017 Milton Ave., was 97 percent leased at the time of sale.
