Beginning with this issue, the Business Journal is again publishing Los Angeles County monthly housing data, broken down by ZIP code. The paper stopped publishing the data last year after ending its relationship with a provider. The new provider is Redfin, a Seattle brokerage that also specializes in housing research.
The data are now more detailed. They include not only the number of units sold in each ZIP code along with their median prices and percentage changes, but also the sales price on a per-square-foot basis and the ratio of the sales price to the list price.
The right-hand side of the table is new and provides listing information, including the number of units for sale in each ZIP code and the median prices asked for those units. Condo sales are broken out separately and are listed after the home data. Note that median prices are not included for ZIP codes with four or fewer sales because it’s too small a sample to make meaningful conclusions.
Finally, the layout of the first page has changed to highlight countywide data, as well as the neighborhoods with the biggest changes in median price.
