Law firm DLA Piper is hiring U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris’ husband, Douglas Emhoff, previously West Coast managing partner for Venable, DLA said last week. Emhoff will assume a partnership role and split time between the firm’s offices in Century City and Washington, D.C. He will represent clients in industries including

media and entertainment, digital media, sports, advertising, technology, hospitality and character licensing, DLA said.

“His arrival is an important strategic move for us not just in Southern California, but for our wider

global sector capabilities,” Roger Meltzer, DLA Piper’s global co-chairman and co-chairman for the Americas, said in a statement. DLA in June announced a merger with Liner, a boutique law firm with offices in Westwood and downtown.
