Thom Mayne
Design Director, Morphosis
Thom Mayne, the 2005 Pritzker Architecture Prize laureate, is a founder and design principal of Morphosis, an interdisciplinary and collectively organized architecture firm that was launched in 1972. Types of buildings undertaken by Morphosis range from residential, institutional, and civic buildings to large urban planning projects. Mayne has taught at Columbia, Harvard, and Yale universities; the Berlage Institute in the Netherlands; and the Bartlett School of Architecture in London. The firm’s design for the Bloomberg Center, the first of three buildings in the $2 billion Cornell Tech campus on New York’s Roosevelt Island, received a citation in the 2017 Progressive Architecture Awards.
