James Travers was the founder and chairman of Travers Realty Corp., which merged with Cresa Partners in 2014 to form Travers Cresa, the largest tenant representation firm in the United States. He holds a national reputation as a leader in the commercial real estate industry. Since its inception in 1978, Travers Realty successfully negotiated more than $11 billion in real estate transactions. Travers has been a keynote speaker on a multitude of real estate panels, and has been awarded and honored on many real estate occasions, including Outstanding Broker of the Year.

Enjoy most: Making sure my client’s business goals and objectives are achieved.

Toughest challenge: Representing 20th Century Insurance in their 600,000-square-foot corporate headquarters transaction, which took over 12 years to complete.

Proudest moment: Celebrating our 39th-year anniversary as the pioneer of the oldest tenant commercial brokerage firm in Los Angeles.

Best advice: Keep your eyes on the prize. Believe in and focus on the end goal, knowing it takes perseverance and a strong constitution to succeed.

Most excited: How technology and social media will continue to shape business practices.

Fun fact: I was a star prep school quarterback in Connecticut.

Bucket list: To experience the excitement of being in Wrigley Field and Fenway Park during the World Series.
