James Iovine

Veteran music mogul Jimmy Iovine is one of the music industry’s most prominent players. Prior to running Apple’s music efforts, he was a longtime music producer and co-founder of Interscope Records. He signed Tupac Shakur as one of Interscope’s first hip-hop acts. He later had a hand in the company’s success with artists such as Eminem and Lady Gaga. In 2006, he teamed with Dr. Dre to create Beats Electronics and its popular headphones and other audio equipment. In 2014, Apple purchased the Culver City company for $3 billion. Iovine and Dr. Dre are the main subjects of the HBO documentary “The Defiant Ones.”
