Warner Bros.’ Consumer Products division announced that it set up a partnership with Taubman Centers, Inc. to launch Looney Tunes-themed children’s play areas within many of Taubman’s 22 shopping malls in 10 states. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Warner Bros. will install its first Looney Tunes-themed children’s play area at the Northlake Mall in Charlotte, N.C., which is owned and managed by Taubman, a Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based real estate investment trust that also owns and operates the Beverly Center in Los Angeles.
The concept at this mall will be applied to many of Taubman’s other shopping centers. Twelve of the malls already have play areas, which will be retrofitted. Company officials are now devising a roll-out plan, which could include building a play area at the Beverly Center.
The 2,000-square-foot play area at Northlake Mall will allow kids to interact with full-size characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, the Tasmanian Devil, and to play games in Looney Tunes-inspired sets. It is set to open Sept. 15.
Taubman’s owned and/or operated shopping centers are located throughout the nation, including New York City, San Francisco, Denver, Detroit, Phoenix, Miami, Dallas, Tampa, Orlando and Washington, D.C.
