Shares in Trio-Tech International surged nearly 30 percent Wednesday after the company reported a 530 percent hike in third quarter net income.

Trio-Tech reported net income of $1.1 million (33 cents per share), a 532 percent jump from $174,000 (5 cents) from the same period a year earlier.

Revenues for the Van Nuys-based semiconductor testing and burn-in services provider more than doubled to $14 million, thanks to product sales more than doubling while the company’s testing services rose by 84 percent in the quarter.

Shares in Trio-Tech gained $4.69, or 29 percent, to $20.95 in afternoon trading Wednesday on the Nasdaq.
