Ted Sarandos is chief content officer of Netflix and has led content acquisition for the streaming service since 2000. Sarandos is recognized as a key innovator in the acquisition and distribution of films and television programs with more than two decades’ experience in the home entertainment business. The company is following up on hit shows such as “House of Cards,” “Arrested Development” and “Orange Is the New Black” by spending a reported $13 billion on original content, according to the Economist. The company, which got its start renting DVDs, has struck deals with “Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes, comedian Chris Rock and former late-night host David Letterman. Plans include specials, feature length films and original shows, including returning hits “13 Reasons Why” and “Grace and Frankie” and new programs such as “Altered Carbon” and “The Cloverfield Paradox.”
