ZIP-IT ORIGINAL ZIPPER BAG

Manufacturer:

Overbreak LLC (Sun Valley)

Description:

A space-efficient purse

Price:

From $12.99

The new Zip-It bag from Overbreak looks like a small bundle of fabric with a zipper that goes down the side. As the zipper is opened a bag takes shape. The bags come in a variety of colors are unzipped into five different sizes, ranging from a large beach-bag to a tote to a small evening bag. The concept is a gimmick, but the actual bags are attractive enough. The Specialty Retail Report, an entrepreneur’s trade magazine, named the bag its product of the year at its Boston trade show in June. They are available in most major retails stores around the country.

THE BUTTSHIELD

Manufacturer:

Air Gear (Playa del Rey)

Description:

Snowboarding pad

Price:

$24.95

The Buttshield does what it claims to do, whether on a black diamond mountain or the bunny hill. This device is designed to keep you bruise-free and also covers both sides of the lower back. It provides insulation on the ski lift as well. The pad is made of shock-absorbing foam and after several uses is supposed to conform to body contours. It’s a one-size-fits-all approach that is designed for placement in all snowboarding pants and bibs, though some snowboarders report that it can feel bulky and awkward at times. The Buttshield is manufactured by Air Gear, a company that predominantly sells kite-surfing gear. It’s available on the company’s Web site.
