Rising bond yields triggered a selloff on Wall Street Monday as persistent nervousness about the economy and interest rates motivated investors to take profits.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 63, or 0.6 percent, to 10,958.59. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index dropped 8.97, or 0.7 percent, to 1,278.26. The Nasdaq Composite Index lost 16.57, or 0.7 percent, to 2,286.03.

Local movers were led by Public Storage Inc., which gained 1.4 percent to $79.46, SCPIE Holdings Inc., which rose 4.6 percent to $24.15, and Wesco Financial Corp., which climbed 1.8 percent to $410. On the down side, Occidental Petroleum Corp. fell 3.6 percent to $91.60, Arden Group Inc. lost 2.7 percent to $87.36 and Amgen Inc. slipped 2.4 percent to $73.55.
