Stocks retreated in early trading Thursday as higher oil prices curbed Wall Street’s momentum from a sharp rally in the prior session.
In the first hour of trading, the Dow Jones industrial average fell 26.24, or 0.24 percent, to 11,053.22. The Dow gained almost 105 points Wednesday. Broader stock indicators were also lower. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index was down 3.48, or 0.28 percent, at 1,248.72, and the Nasdaq composite index lost 6.62, or 0.31 percent, to 2,134.58.
