Good Fit: Palmdale Fitness Club has signed a long-term lease valued at more than $1.3 million for the former 17,065-square-foot 24 Hour Fitness location at Palmdale Towne Square. The lease for the new gym, at 2041 E. Palmdale Blvd., will begin Jan. 1; the 24 Hour gym shuttered in November.

Taking Off: Ducommun Inc., a Carson aerospace and defense industry parts supplier, has received contracts totaling about $14 million from Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth, Texas. Ducommun’s Ducommun LaBarge Technologies unit will produce electronic assemblies and wiring harnesses for Bell’s V-22 Osprey aircraft.

Site, Logo Revamp: Causeway Capital Management LLC, a West L.A.-based investment management firm, has redesigned its logo and relaunched its website. The new site retains the old Internet address, CausewayCap.com. Causeway manages about $11.9 billion in assets.

Train Conducting: Aecom Technology Corp., a downtown L.A. engineering services company, in a joint venture with its Tishman Construction arm and New York engineering firm STV Group Inc. has landed a $19 million contract from the Moynihan Station Development Corp. in cooperation with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The joint venture will provide construction and rail services for the first phase of Moynihan Station train station construction in Manhattan.
ATWATER VILLAGE
Equity Investment: New York private-equity firm Court Square Capital Partners has signed a deal to take a majority stake in Encompass Digital Media Inc., an Atwater Village-based digital media services firm. Court Square funds will buy stocks from Encompass shareholders including Wasserstein & Co. LP, an investment firm with offices in New York and Century City.

New Handle: J2 Global Communications Inc., a Hollywood-based provider of messaging and communications services, has shortened its name to J2 Global Inc. The name was changed to reflect the firm’s move into cloud-based services for business.

Heating Up: Burger Lounge, a fast-casual chain launched in La Jolla in 2007, has opened a location in West Hollywood. The new outpost, at 8539 W. Sunset Blvd., features a patio overlooking Sunset, and a menu sporting vegetarian and grass-fed beef offerings.
