VALENCIA

Office Property: Pacific Office Properties Trust Inc., a San Diego-based real estate investment trust with a focus on office properties, has paid $31 million for Valencia Corporate Center, a three-building office complex. Pacific Office will co-own the center with Angelo Gordon & Co., a New York investment firm. The complex, at 25124 Springfield Court, comprises 194,000 square feet of Class A office space.

TARZANA

Baby Boost: Providence Tarzana Medical Center’s neonatal intensive care unit has received a $49,000 donation from Toluca Lake’s Will Rogers Institute to buy equipment. The gift will go to purchase three ventilators and two machines that monitor carbon dioxide in infant bloodstreams.

VAN NUYS

Hospital Grant: Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys has received a $500,000 grant to support its breast-feeding initiative from First 5 LA, a downtown L.A. non-profit focused on promoting children’s health. The grant will go toward training, new procedures and other programs to encourage breast feeding among young mothers.

MANHATTAN BEACH

Funding Round: Morphlabs Inc., a Manhattan Beach computer cloud services company, has raised $5 million in Series C funding. The round was led by Japanese and Indonesian institutional investors. The money will be used for expanding Morphlabs’ services.

WESTSIDE

WEST LOS ANGELES

Reverse Stock Split: Catasys Inc., a West L.A. provider of health management services, has declared a reverse stock split of its common shares at a 1-to-40 ratio. Shareholders will receive one share for every 40 shares held. The split is designed to improve the company’s investor appeal.

CENTURY CITY

Internet Pickup: Revolution Capital Group LLC, a Century City private-equity firm, has acquired Capital Exchange, or CapXG, a Valencia-based networking

site specializing in finance. CapXG operations will be overseen by Chongyang Luo, Revolution Capital chief technology officer. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

SANTA MONICA

New Eatery: Josie Le Balch, owner of Santa Monica restaurant Josie, has opened a neighboring eatery, Next Door by Josie at 2420 Pico Blvd. Next Door will feature dishes in Le Balch’s progressive American style with French and Italian influences.

CORRECTIONS

The article headlined “Algae-to-Fuel Company Stock Sinks After Split” in the Sept. 5 issue should have said that a company’s stock must trade above $4 for a new listing on the Nasdaq or New York Stock Exchange.
