Raven Order: Aerovironment Inc., a Monrovia maker of unmanned aerial vehicles, has received an order worth $46 million to supply its Raven unmanned aircraft system to the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. The order is a part of an existing contract with the Pentagon and is scheduled to be completed over the next 12 months.

TV Deal: Hasbro Studios, the Burbank production and distribution division of toymaker Hasbro Inc., has signed a deal with Mediaset, a Milan, Italy, media company. Mediaset received a programming package of five children’s shows, including “Transformers Prime” and “Pound Puppies,” for airing on its TV channels. Mediaset also will serve as licensing agent in the Italian market for the five programs.

Healthy Pickup: Neonatal Medical Associates Inc., a 14-physician neonatal intensive care unit at Miller’s Hospital in Long Beach, has been acquired by Mednax Inc., a Fort Lauderdale, Fla. medical group. The doctors will practice as part of Mednax’s Pediatrix Medical Group. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Acquisition Completed: California United Bank in Encino has completed its acquisition of California Oaks State Bank in Thousand Oaks. California Oaks’ branches in Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks will now operate as California United branches.

Juiced Up: Quallion LLC, a Sylmar battery manufacturer, has received $1.41 million from the United States Advanced Battery Consortium for an 18-month demonstration project of its Matrix battery design. The Matrix is a battery pack using a mixture of high-power and high-energy lithium ion cells. The consortium disburses grant money provided by the U.S. Department of Energy.

WEST LOS ANGELES
Boosted Image: RadNet Inc., a West L.A.-based operator of 198 medical diagnostic imaging centers, has completed acquisition of Imaging on Call LLC, a Poughkeepsie, N.Y., company that provides remote interpretation of diagnostic imaging exams. RadNet is paying $5.5 million for Imaging on Call, and will pay an additional $2.5 million if Imaging on Call reaches certain performance milestones next year.
Added Insurance: Sander A. Kessler & Associates Inc., a Santa Monica-based insurance brokerage, has been acquired by Chicago-based insurance services firm Hub International Ltd. Kessler & Associates will become part of Hub International’s California division. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
