Pasadena-based Parsons Corp. was awarded a contract from the Cobb County, Ga., Water System division to supervise work on the $200 million South Cobb Tunnel.
The South Cobb Tunnel will be 30,000-feet-long, 27-feet-diameter tunnel with concrete lining, construction and drop shafts, inlet structures and smaller connector tunnels. The project also includes a lift station to convey wastewater flows from the tunnel to the South Cobb Water Reclamation Facility. The tunnel is expected to be operational in 2013.
San Francisco-based Jacobs Associates is a subcontractor on the contract. Jacobs and Parsons held similar roles in the completion of CCWS’ Chattahoochee Tunnel project more than two years ago.
