Online Listings for L.A. Jobs Down in July

Online job recruitment and job openings in Los Angeles advertised online fell in July, according to a survey released Thursday.

The Monster Local Employment Index for L.A. fell to 100 in July from 101 in June. The results are an extension of the national Monster Employment Index compiled monthly by online recruiting firm Monster Worldwide Inc.

Online demand in Los Angeles increased in only nine of 22 occupational categories. Military, construction and personal care and service jobs showed the largest increases in demand in July. Protective service, health care support and maintenance-related jobs showed declines.

“While there was a slight decrease in online job demand in Los Angeles in July, this is likely due to a seasonal slowdown in hiring that is common with the middle of summer,” said Steve Pogorzelski, president of Monster North America.
