Crude oil prices rose above $60 a barrel Wednesday amid concerns about U.S. supply disruptions as a tropical storm forced oil companies to evacuate rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.
Light sweet crude for August delivery rose $1.11 to $60.70 a barrel in afternoon trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange, where gasoline futures jumped more than 8 cents to $1.762 per gallon. Heating oil futures climbed 4.46 cents to $1.777 per gallon.
