Accounting

Protiviti Inc., a consulting and internal audit services company, has promoted Jon Rydberg and Jeffrey Sanchez to managing directors in its Los Angeles office. Rydberg and Sanchez were most recently directors with the company.


Nsbn LLP, a Beverly Hills-based accounting and business consulting firm, has hired Jim Sharvin as manager. Sharvin was previously a partner with Sharvin & Associates in Columbus, Ohio.



Architecture

TCA, a Southern California-based architecture, planning and urban design firm, has hired Michael McCoy as business development manager and Jean-Maurice Moul & #269;ne as studio director in its Los Angeles office. McCoy was formerly director of business development and marketing at the Glendale office of Leidenfrost/Horowitz & Associates Inc., an architectural design firm. Moul & #269;ne was previously director of business development for Moule & Polyzoides Architects and Urbanists in Pasadena.



Banking & Finance

Sang Pil An has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer of First Intercontinental Bank in Los Angeles. An most recently served as senior vice president and regional director of Center Bank’s five branches in the Koreatown and downtown areas of Los Angeles.


City National Bank has hired Donald D. Douthwright as senior vice president and manager of its Long Beach commercial banking services unit. Douthwright was formerly senior vice president and alternate group manager at Comerica Bank’s Long Beach middle market group.



Design

BRC Imagination Arts, a design, creation and production company in Burbank, has announced the following promotions: Christian Lachel to vice president of brand experiences, Tisa Poe to vice president of educational attractions and experiences, and Rob Wyatt to vice president of entertainment experiences. Lachel most recently served as creative director with the company. Poe was previously production director. Wyatt was senior director of project development.



Education

Lisa Juarez has been named director of marketing and communications of UCLA Extension. Juarez was previously vice president of marketing communications for Viking River Cruises.



Engineering

Steve Tsai has joined Earth Tech Inc., a construction and engineering services company headquartered in Long Beach, as vice president of federal programs in the western and Pacific regions. Tsai most recently served as senior program manager at Environmental Chemical Corp.



Entertainment

Noel Siegel has been promoted to vice president of production and development for Fox Reality Channel. Siegel was most recently director of development with the company.


NxTV Inc., a Los Angeles-based company that provides entertainment and technology for the hospitality industry, has hired Hooman Honary as chief technical officer and Eric Litwin as senior vice president of applications development. Honary was previously chief technical officer at Oxford Media Inc. Litwin was senior vice president of information technology at Countrywide Capital Markets, a division of Countrywide Financial Corp.



Government

The City of Long Beach has appointed Craig Johnson to manager of the Enterprise Zone Program, the city’s economic development program. Johnson was previously administrator of the Business Technology Center of Los Angeles County.


David Schwarz has been appointed to the Little Hoover Commission, an independent state oversight agency that investigates state government operations and promotes efficiency, economy and improved service. Schwarz is an attorney and partner at Irell & Manella, a law firm with offices in Century City and Newport Beach.



Hospitality

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, an L.A.-based retail chain, has named Faye Moseley director of human resources. Moseley was most recently senior director of corporate human resources for Herbalife International of America.



Human Resources

Korn/Ferry International, a Los Angeles-based executive placement company, has named Stephen Giusto as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Giusto most recently served as chief financial officer of Resources Connection Inc., a professional services firm.



Law

Goodwin Procter LLP, a national law firm, has named Brooks R. Brown litigation partner in the firm’s Century City office. The firm also hired Jessica Gill, Kathryn Herman, Julie Huebner and Ben Shapiro as associates at the Century City office. The firm has also hired Susan Morningstern and Jennifer Sung as associates for its downtown Los Angeles office. Brown was previously a litigation partner for the firm’s Boston office. The new associates are first-year attorneys.


Kabateck Brown Kellner LLP, a downtown Los Angeles firm, has hired Ronald I. Karz, Robert M. Partain and Reza Sina as associates. Karz was previously senior attorney for Santa Clara Department of Child Support Services. Partain was formerly an associate at Baum Hedlund, a Los Angeles-based law firm. Sina was most recently a law clerk with the firm.


Wendy E. Lane has joined Rutter Hobbs & Davidoff Inc., a Century City law firm, as associate. Lane was formerly senior counsel in business litigation at Liner Yankelevitz Sunshine & Regenstreif.



Real Estate

Steve Selcer has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of Oakwood Worldwide, a rental housing solution company headquartered in Los Angeles. Selcer was previously senior vice president and chief financial officer with the company.



Transportation

Jim Santa Ana has been named director of engineering design at the Port of Long Beach. Santa Ana was most recently the port’s deputy chief harbor engineer of design.


Five Acres, a child and family services agency, has raised $185,000 at its 20th annual Invitational Golf Classic. The money will be used to support the programs and services for at-risk children and families.


YWCA Greater Los Angeles has honored Gloria Allred with this year’s Silver Achievement Award for her civil rights activities. Allred is a founding partner of Allred Maroko & Goldberg law firm, and founder and president of the Women’s Equal Rights Legal Defense and Education Fund.


Nwenna Kai Gates received the 2007 Elizabeth Dole Young Entrepreneur Scholarship at the national conference of Women Impacting Public Policy, a bipartisan women’s business group. Gates is the owner of Taste of the Goddess Caf & #233; in Los Angeles. The scholarship is awarded annually to a rising woman entrepreneur between the ages of 21 and 35 who has been in business less than five years.


Homeless Health Care Los Angeles has honored Michael B. Lehrer with the Plato de Oro award for his work on homelessness in Los Angeles. Lehrer is the founder of Lehrer Architects, a Los Angeles-based architectural design firm.
