Education

The Los Angeles Unified School District has appointed Roger Buschmann as its chief human resources officer and Rene Gonzalez as assistant superintendent of health and human services. Previously, Buschmann was deputy chief human resources officer and Gonzalez was director of psychological services in the division of special education.



Government


The Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center has promoted Dan Lee to assistant general manager. Lee was previously director of facilities.


Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has named Sally Choi deputy mayor of finance and performance management. Choi was recently assistant general manager of the Los Angeles City Employees’ Retirement System.



Health Care


Childrens Hospital Los Angeles has elected the following board members: Gloria Holden, Alan Purwin, Monica Horan Rosenthal and Dick Zeigler. Holden is present of the Glen Holden Foundation; Purwin is chief executive of Helinet Aviation Services; Rosenthal is an actress and homemaker; and Zeigler is senior vice president and financial advisor with Bank of America Investment Services Inc. in Palm Desert.



Law


Brian Pass has joined the Century City office of Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP as partner in the entertainment, media and communications and intellectual property practice groups. Pass was recently partner with Brown Raysman in Los Angeles.



Non-Profit


The San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership, a non-profit corporation that provides consulting and services to businesses, has named Ron L. Wood president and chief executive, effective Jan. 1, 2007. Wood is currently publisher of the San Gabriel Valley Newspaper Group.


Mario Haug has joined Goodwill Southern California as vice president of development and community relations. Previously, Haug was director of development for the Alzheimer’s Association of Southern California.


AbilityFirst, a Pasadena-based non-profit organization serving people with disabilities, has named Steven Schultz vice president of finance and administration. Schultz was previously executive director and chief financial officer with the Florence Crittenton Center in Los Angeles.


The Southern California Contractors Association has installed the following directors: Tom Kovacich, partner at Atkinson Andelson Loya Ruud and Romo in Cerritos; Mike Murphy, president of Brutoco Engineering and Construction in Fontana; and Dennis Richens, president of Concrete Coring Co. in Paramount. Charles Rasmussen was elected as treasurer. Rasmussen is president of C.A. Rasmussen Inc. in Simi Valley.



Real Estate


Bond Cos., a real estate investment firm, has appointed Stephen L. Grant as chief investment officer. Grant was formerly director of real estate investments for American Realty Advisors in Glendale.


CB Richard Ellis Group Inc. has hired Todd Anderson as senior managing director of the global corporate services group at its headquarters in downtown Los Angeles. Anderson previously served as senior managing director of global client solutions for the Western region at Cushman & Wakefield.



Retail


Theon & #233; Miller has been named marketing director for Westfield West Covina. Miller was previously regional assistant marketing director for Westfield Century City.



Services


Enterprise Rent-A-Car has promoted Yvette Burke to regional vice president of the Southern California region. Burke was recently regional rental manager in the Coachella Valley.



KUDOS


Bob Rogers will receive this year’s Thea Lifetime Achievement Award, which is given to a distinguished individual in the themed entertainment and experience design industry. The award is given by TEA, a non-profit organization composed of people and businesses in the industry. Rogers is chief executive of BRC Imagination Arts, a Burbank-based company that designs and creates experience-based attractions for museums, experiential marketing, theme parks, and cultural heritage sites worldwide. With nearly 40 years in the industry, Rogers’s work has included projects for the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Walt Disney Co., General Motors, NASA, the Texas State History Museum, and the U.S. Pavilion at the 2005 World’s Fair in Japan.
