AFA Financial Group LLC, a financial services broker and dealer in Calabasas, has hired Kelly Colvin as vice president of real estate brokerage services. Colvin was formerly director of tenant-in-common closings with Core Realty Holding LLC.
Wells Fargo Private Client Services has named Robert Meeks and Paul Nevans as senior vice president and private client advisor, respectively. Previously, Meeks was senior vice president and manager at U.S. Trust and Nevans was senior vice president and senior relationship manager at U.S. Trust.
B. Riley & Co., a Los Angeles-based research, trading, and investment banking firm, has promoted Wes Cummins to director of capital markets, Justin Cable to director of research and Kenneth Tang to director of institutional sales. Cummins was director of research, Cable served as analyst and Tang was a member of the institutional sales team.
Construction
SGI, a project and construction management firm with headquarters in Pasadena, has appointed Jim McConnell as president. McConnell had previously served as chief facilities executive for the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Webcor Builders has named Michael F. Bernica vice president of Los Angeles operations and Joseph Wathen vice president of estimating and preconstruction. Bernica was formerly vice president of operations at Swinerton Builders and Wathen was vice president of operations at Webcor.
SCS, an engineering and construction firm specializing in waste management and environmental services, has hired Robert D. Johnson as senior technical manager in its Long Beach office. Johnson was previously vice president of Brown Vence & Associates Inc. in Ontario.

Axel Buendia has joined Westlake Village-based MBSG, a business and technology consulting firm, as non-profit solutions consultant and certified trainer. Buendia was previously systems consultant for Deltak Systems Inc.
OTX, a consumer research and consulting firm, has named David Shanker chief operating officer and promoted Bruce Friend to president of media and entertainment insights. Shanker was president of client solutions at Information Resources Inc. Friend was managing director and executive vice president of media and entertainment insights.

The Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has appointed Bill Grisolia as vice president of communications. Grisolia is senior real estate paralegal at Buchalter Nemer’s downtown Los Angeles office.
Eileen P. Fogarty has been named director of planning and community development of Santa Monica. Fogarty was previously director of planning and zoning in Alexandria, Va.
Health Care
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of greater Los Angeles has named Michael Rudman as president and Tim Connor president-elect of its board. Rudman is principal at Accountancy Corp. and Connor is president of Nestle Foodservices North America.

Brown Winfield & Canzoneri Inc. has hired Arnold Barba as associate in the firm’s litigation department in downtown Los Angeles. Barba recently served as associate at Morrison & Foerster.

David Berkus has joined MyShape, an online store selling professional women’s clothing, as a member of its board. Berkus is chairman emeritus of the Tech Coast Angels.

Zag, a Santa Monica-based online automotive retailer, has appointed Mark Miller as executive vice president of dealer and industry relations. Miller was recently senior vice president of dealer and industry relations at CarsDirect.com.
Devastudios, a Venice-based film graphic design firm, has named Matt Hartle 3D motion graphics director. Previously, Hartle was 3D department head of the audiovisual division of BLT in Hollywood.
Audio Visual Innovations has named Dave Bernal sales manager for the company’s hotel division in Santa Monica. Bernal was previously senior account executive for Alliant Event Services.

Marine Terminals Corp., a national stevedore and terminal operator, has promoted John C. Hering to general manager of the auto division in the company’s San Pedro office. Hering was vice president of sales.

The Valley County Water District Board has appointed Guy H. Mato as interim general manager. Mato is currently broker and owner of Venture Matrix.
