Kim Walter has been named vice president of operations for Van Nuys-based AdOut. Walter previously worked as the advertising production manager of the Daily News of Los Angeles. In her new position, she will oversee a staff of 29 in the design and production of advertisements for newspapers.

Banking & Finance

Cynthia A. Touw has been promoted to vice president in the priority banking division at Union Bank of California. Touw previously served as priority banking manager. Prior to joining Union Bank, Touw worked at First Interstate Bank as a vice president and financial services manager.

The Greenspan Co. has appointed Nancy McLean to chief administrative officer of the insurance adjusting firm. McLean previously served as Greenspan’s administrative manager. In her new position, McLean will be responsible for staff training programs and implementing formal job descriptions and performance standards.

Entertainment/Media

Lon Troxel has been promoted to chief operating officer of DMX Inc. Troxel will be responsible for managing daily operations of the corporation, except for Europe and programming. Since joining DMX in 1991, Troxel has guided company growth and launched DMX via direct broadcast satellite.

Dennis A. Herzig has been named News Director at KCAL 9 Los Angeles. Herzig comes to KCAL from station WPLG in Miami where he served as assistant news director. In Miami, Herzig helped direct coverage of major news events including Hurricane Andrew and the crash of ValuJet flight 592.

Stewart Sloke has been named vice president/production director of Glendale-based World Wide Wadio. Sloke previously worked at Waves Sound Recorders, where he was the primary engineer. In his new job, he will oversee the company’s staff of producers and sound designers. The company produces radio commercials for clients such as McDonald’s, Volvo and 20th Television.

Warner Bros. Theatrical has announced the promotion of Musette Buckley to vice president of production resources. Buckley, who previously served as director of production resources, will be responsible for international product and brand integration in Warner Bros. feature films. Prior to joining Warner Bros., Buckley was an account executive with Rogers & Cowan.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. announced the promotion of David Bishop to president of MGM Home Entertainment, a division of the newly merged MGM Home Entertainment/Consumer Products Group. Bishop will oversee worldwide operations for the studio’s home video, laser disc and DVD product, as well as the distribution and marketing of the Santa Monica company’s interactive product and music catalog.

Cecille Pagarigan has been appointed senior director of marketing for Universal Music & Video Distribution in Universal City. Pagarigan will oversee marketing and sales strategies with the labels and artist development representatives throughout the U.S. Prior to joining Universal, Pagarigan served as sales marketing manager of Arista Records.

Universal Studios has promoted Charles A. Labrow to director of corporate security. He will be responsible for emergency care for the studio and all internal protection programs for employees and guests. Labrow previously served as assistant director of corporate security.

Law

Kevin S. Fiur, Bill Grantham and Andrew F. Kim have joined the Beverly Hills law firm of Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman as associates in the litigation department. Nina L. Pan has joined the firm’s labor department. Fiur practices general business and entertainment litigation. Prior to joining the law firm, Grantham served as consultant, writer and publisher in international entertainment and media. Kim practices business tort, intellectual property and breach of contract. Prior to joining the firm, Kim served as litigation counsel at Warner Bros. Pan practices management labor and employment law matters.

David L. Winter has been named managing partner of the Glendale law firm of Hagenbaugh and Murphy. Winter specializes in construction defect, construction site injuries and products and premises liability. In the new position, he will be responsible for training attorneys.

Victor Hsu has joined the Los Angeles office of Fulbright & Jaworski as counsel. He will continue his public finance practice as a member of Fulbright’s public finance and administrative law group. Hsu was with Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe before joining Fulbright.

Real Estate

John C. Haeckel has been named chief financial officer of CB Commercial Real Estate Services Group Inc. Before joining CB Commercial, Haeckel served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Broadway Stores Inc.

Los Angeles-based Matt Construction Corp. has promoted Steven F. Matt to president. Matt previously served as vice president of operations and preconstruction for the firm. He served as senior project manager on projects including the Howard Hughes Center Office Building, the McNeill Plaza and Barneys New York department store in Beverly Hills.

Sherri Franklin has been named director of development for Jenkins/Gales & Martinez. She will be responsible for assisting the Westchester-based firm’s growth process and their products and services. Franklin previously served as the managing partner of Capital Resources Group.

Montgomery Watson Inc. has announced that Murli Tolaney will take over as chairman of the board and Robert B. Uhler as president. Tolaney is chief executive officer of the Pasadena-based company, which provides environmental engineering, construction and management. Uhler most recently served as CEO of the company’s industrial/federal operations.

Retail

Melinda Eckhardt has been named president of Billings-Horn General Merchandise and Health & Beauty Care Co. In her new position, Eckhardt will be responsible for growth and expansion of the Cerritos-based company. The firm represents national food and general merchandise manufactures to retail grocery chains and drug and discount chain stores.

Vons Cos. Inc. has been named Bob Smith group vice president of Vons stores. Smith will oversee district managers, operations support and loss prevention staffs. He previously served as group vice president of perishables for the Arcadia-based stores.
