Anshen+Allen Los Angeles has promoted Jill Capanna, Andre LaFlamme, Jorge de la Cal, Jay Hughey and Andrew Labov to associate principals and Michael Johnson, Kin Lee and David Shuo-Wei Lin to associates. Capanna is marketing director, LaFlamme is chief financial officer and de la Cal, Hughey and Labov are senior project architects for the firm’s science, technology and education sectors.

Andrew W. Hietala has joined HSBC Bank USA as vice president and senior relationship manager for the Southern California commercial banking division. Previously, he was vice president of Comerica Bank’s international finance group.

Earth Tech Inc. has named Kern Jacobson senior vice president. He was previously Southwest and Central regional manager for Jacobs Civil Inc., a division of Jacobs Engineering.


Syska Hennessy Group has named Ali Sherafat deputy chief engineer. He is vice president and head of the firm’s Western region special projects team.


URS Corp. has hired Jesus Fondevila as vice president and facilities design department manager in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Most recently, he was vice president and managing principal at Leo A. Daly.



Education


Cecilia Conrad has been named associate dean of Pomona College. Conrad has served as a member of the school’s faculty, teaching economics since 1995, and is the Stedman-Sumner Professor of Economics.



Government


Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed Cynthia Amador and Gayle Pacheco to the Workforce Investment Board. Amador is president and chief executive of CHARO Community Development Corp. and Pacheco is president of Western Hardware Co. and a partner at the law offices of Pacheco & Pacheco.



Health Care


Andrew Scott Klein has joined the Comprehensive Transplant Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as director. He comes from the John Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he was director of the liver transplant program.


The Prostate Cancer Foundation has named Craig A. Dionne executive vice president of research and therapeutics. He was previously vice president of biological research at Cephalon Inc.


DaVita Inc. has named Denise K. Fletcher chief financial officer. She joined the company in September and has been acting as senior vice president.



Hospitality


Hyatt Hotels Corp. has appointed Kris Kareti director of sales and marketing of the Hyatt Valencia. He was most recently sales manager at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Los Angeles.


Dale Freer has joined the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles as director of sales and marketing. Previously, Freer was director of sales and marketing for the Hilton Suites in Phoenix.



Law


Howard S. Klein has joined Feinberg Mindel Brandt Klein & Kline LLP as a named partner, heading the probate and trust department. Klein was principal of the Law Offices of Howard S. Klein.


Weston Benshoof Rochefort Rubalcava & MacCuish LLP has promoted C. Michelle Marlo to partner of the firm in its real estate group. She was of counsel.

Salem Communications Corp. has named Michael T. Reichert and Ron Stark as general sales managers for KRLA-AM (870) and KTIE-AM (590), respectively. Previously, Reichert was general sales manager for KTIE and Stark was president with Stark Kreative Services Inc.


The Henry Mancini Institute has named Dan Carlin executive director. Carlin is an Emmy Award-winning music editor and chairman of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences.

Louis Cullman has joined The Library Foundation of Los Angeles board. He is a partner at Preston Gates & Ellis LLP.


The St. Joseph Center in Venice has named Kevin McCardle, Sister Mary Sevilla and Richard R. Sizemore to its board. McCardle is a professor at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, Sevilla is assistant provincial of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and Sizemore is vice president and branch manager of First Federal Bank of California in Santa Monica.



Real Estate


The California Association of Realtors has named Jim Hamilton president for 2005. Hamilton manages RE/MAX Execs in Redondo Beach,


James Wolford has joined Bixby Land Co. as chief financial officer. Most recently, Wolford served as financial officer for the West Coast Division of AIMCO.


Combined Properties Inc. has hired Margaret Georgilas as director of West Coast leasing. Previously, she was lease acquisitions manager with Countrywide Home Loans.


Ed Savoy has joined Younan Properties as director of asset management and operation. Most recently, he was director of project management for Tishman Construction.



Sports


Roy Smith has been named vice president of scouting and player development for the Los Angeles Dodgers. In addition, the team named Terry Collins director of player development and Dan Feinstein coordinator of baseball operations. Smith, a former Major League pitcher, was assistant general manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Collins, a former major league manager, was the Dodgers’ minor league field coordinator and Feinstein was a scouting assistant for the Oakland Athletics.



Technology


Elizabeth Dietz has joined Xap Corp. as chief executive. Previously, she was vice president and general manager of Learning Solutions for PeopleSoft.


Computer Sciences Corp. board has promoted Thomas R. Irvin as vice president and treasurer. He was assistant treasurer. It also named David J. Barram to its board. Barram was administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration from 1996 until 2001.


Group 4 Technology, parent company of AMAG Technology, has named Kim M. Loy vice president of marketing. Most Recently, Loy was director of commercial solutions for GE Security.


National Notification Network has named Mitch Collins vice president of marketing and Andrew Alpert vice president of sales. Collins had been chief marketing officer for the operating division of AIG and Alpert was chief operations officer at RCC Consultants.


Cougar Biotechnology Inc. has named Gloria Lee vice president of clinical research and development. Lee, a medical doctor, had been with Chiron Corp. as senior director of clinical development-oncology.
