Richard Mosco has joined Wiss Janney Elstner Associates Inc. as a consultant. Previously, he was chief corporate architect for Nestle USA/Carnation Co.

Kenneth W. Kramer has joined Wescom Credit Union as chief financial officer. Previously he was chief financial officer for CU Direct Corp.


Louis P. Abel has joined U.S. Trust’s Los Angeles office as senior vice president and senior portfolio manager. Previously, Abel served as vice president and senior portfolio manager for Wells Fargo Private Asset Management in Beverly Hills.

Lieberfarb & Associates has named John Calkins president. Calkins was most recently senior vice president of corporate business development and strategy with Warner Bros. Entertainment.



Education


Peter Lowy has joined the University of Judaism’s board as chair. He is chief executive of Westfield Group.



Entertainment


The Walt Disney Internet Group has promoted Michael Nichols to senior vice president, creative and content development for its international group. He was executive vice president. Also at the division of Walt Disney Co., Emily Smith has been promoted to vice president of FamilyFun.com from director of product development.


Aqua Xtremes Inc., a subsidiary of Nova Communications Ltd, has named John Rockett Western regional vice president and Rick Finch Eastern regional vice president. Both will be based in Torrance.


Universal Studios Hollywood has named Tim Runco vice president of entertainment and John Murdy creative director, entertainment production. Previously, Runco was an independent consultant at Entertainment Creative Development and Management, and Murdy was with Universal Parks & Resorts.


CDMI Productions Inc. has hired Matthew Crouch as chief executive and chairman. Crouch had been an independent producer.


Sherman Atkinson has joined Intermix Media Inc. as chief operating officer. He was most recently chief operating officer of Buy.com and president of BuyServices Inc.



Government


Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has named Frank Stiefel to the California Film Commission. He is owner of Stiefel and Co., a commercial production company.



Health Care


Michael Mellman has joined St. Vincent Medical Center’s Los Angeles Spine Surgery Institute as director of ancillary services. He is the team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Kings.


Colleen Cain and Ryan Trimble have joined the SCAN Health Plan board. Cain sits on the Legacy Health System board and Trimble is chief executive of P5 Inc.


Joseph Schohl has joined DaVita Inc. as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Previously, he was as counsel to Baxter Healthcare Corp.


Pacific Venture Group has appointed David Dennis managing director. Dennis was senior executive with Tenet Healthcare.

Carlsmith Ball LLP has hired James E. Blancarte as a partner and Alejandro Menchaca as an associate. Blancarte had headed the law offices of James E. Blancarte, where Menchaca was an associate.


The Los Angeles County Bar Association has appointed Stuart A. Forsyth executive director. Most recently, he was principal of the Legal Futurist.


Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker LLP has promoted Dino Barajas, Dennis Ellis, Stacy Hopkins and Robert Keane to partners. Previously, Barajas was of counsel and Ellis, Hopkins and Keane were associates.


Michael J. Mehall has joined the Los Angeles office of Carroll Burdick & McDonough LLP as an associate in the civil and product liability litigation department. He previously was with Bowman and Brookes.

Ogilvy public relations has hired Monica Bouldin as head of the consumer marketing practice. Most recently, Bouldin was senior vice president at Ruder Finn.


Roddan Paolucci Roddan has named Patricia Deacon vice president of client services, Randy Steinberg media relations manager and Katherine Kim account executive. Most recently, Deacon was vice president and marketing director with the Mobile Media Group, Steinberg was founder of Steinberg/Allen Communications and Kim was a marketing director at Cousins Properties Inc.


Brendan Flynn has joined the consumer brand and entertainment communications practice of Fleishman-Hillard as vice president. Previously, Flynn was a management supervisor at Rogers & Associates.

Todd Brownrout has joined the Los Angeles Times as senior vice president of advertising. Previously, he was senior vice president of sales and marketing for Philadelphia Newspapers Inc., a Knight-Ridder company.


Brian Adler has joined Steele Inc. as executive producer. Previously, Adler was a freelance production consultant under Pine Grove Entertainment.


KromA has promoted Evan Guidera to visual effects artist. He was an assistant visual effects artist.


Digital Theater Systems Inc. has promoted Don Bird to senior vice president of cinema. He had been vice president of marketing.



Music


The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra has named Scott Fuller, Sanford Gage and Gary Larsen to its board and hired Addie deHilster as development associate, Edward Graham as associate for production, education and administrative operations, Katy Littlefield as special events associate and Christina Guerrero as associate for marketing and patron services. Fuller is vice president of brand management for Disney/ABC Cable Networks, Gage practices mediation and heads EnGage Mediation, and Larsen is managing director of U.S. Trust Co.



Non-Profit


The Japan American Society of Southern California has named Donald P. Baker chairman and Akira Tasaki co-vice chairman. Baker is a partner at Latham & Watkins LLP and Tasaki is president and chief executive of Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics USA.


The California Endowment has appointed Brytain Ashford vice president of human resources. Previously, she served as director of human resources for Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica.

Shorewood Realtors has promoted Steve Rosemary to manager of its Malaga Cove office. He was assistant manager of the Redondo Beach office.


Yenshun Hsieh has joined Younan Properties Inc. as corporate controller. Previously, Hsieh was with Stratus Real Estate Inc.


Rooney Daschbach has joined Colliers Seeley International as regional manager. Most recently, he was senior vice president at Overton Moore Properties.



Retail


Gourmet Celebrations has named Robert Wedaa chef. Most recently, he was executive chef at Along Came Mary.



Telecommunications


Boingo Wireless Inc. has named David Hagan president and chief executive. Hagan, who joined the company three years ago, had served as president and chief operating officer. Boingo founder Sky Dayton, who had been chairman and chief executive, remains chairman.



Tourism


LA Inc., the convention and visitors bureau, has named Michael S. McDowell senior director of cultural tourism. Previously, McDowell was associate vice president for public affairs at the California Institute of the Arts.



Trade


The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has appointed Tom Teofilo managing director of maritime services and Carl Kemp director of community relations and government affairs. Teofilo recently resigned as the Southern California vice president of the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association and Kemp was manager of public and government affairs for the City of Long Beach.
