Accounting & Consulting

Carole Crossley, Mohamed H. Sobhy, Gregory D. Goodman, Paige K. Hayes, James V. Hughes, Mark W. Wilbur and Tami D. Wilson have all been named partners at the Los Angeles office of Arthur Andersen, a worldwide professional services firm. Crossley will advise clients on human resources and tax implications. Sobhy is the partner in charge of the Andersen team that audits employee benefits plans for Fortune 500 companies. Goodman will be in the e-business consulting group and expand his responsibilities with Internet and digital technology clients. Hayes will be leading the firm’s strategy consulting for e-business in the Pacific region. Wilbur is also in the e-business consulting group and will be helping online clients and traditional brick-and-mortar clients to implement effective Internet strategies. Hughes will manage the compensation and equity incentive consulting group, which advises corporate clients on competitive pay. Wilson is in the firm’s energy practice and will work with clients such as Edison International. The office has also named Steven E. Blair a principal in the global portfolio services unit. He will advise clients on their commercial property portfolios.

Charles K. Lee has been appointed senior manager in the Los Angeles core tax services group at Deloitte & Touche. Prior to joining, Lee was a senior manager for KPMG in Los Angeles. Also, Don Teichen has been named partner in charge of the firm’s multi-state practice for the Pacific Southwest region. He will be based out of the Los Angeles office. He was most recently a partner and multi-state practice leader for the Rocky Mountain region of Deloitte & Touche’s Denver office.


Advertising & P.R.

Lisa Weil has joined Edelman Public Relations in Los Angeles as vice president of the issues management group. Her responsibilities will include crisis management, litigation support, public affairs and media and analyst relations. Weil was a member of Sitrick & Co.; prior to joining Edelman.


Banking & Finance

Stephen L. Wilkinson will fill the newly created position of vice president of secondary marketing for Shea Mortgage in Walnut. He will be assisting in the company’s plans to provide a full array of home financing solutions, as well as help the company expand geographically. Prior to joining Shea, Wilkinson held a similar position with SCME Mortgage Bankers of San Diego.


Construction

Thomas G. Miller has been appointed principal-in-charge of the Los Angeles office of Bovis Lend Lease. He will oversee the office, which is responsible for the seismic rehabilitation of Los Angeles City Hall, among other projects. Most recently, Miller served as regional director for Bovis Lend Lease in North Asia.

William Wu has been promoted to vice president and Southern California regional manager for Project Management Associates Inc., a construction management firm. He is based in Pasadena and will be in charge of marketing the Southern California region to clients, as well as staffing major projects and serving as principal on major projects. Prior to his promotion, he served as the company’s regional manager for Southern California.


Education

Sylvia G. Rousseau has been named assistant superintendent of secondary education and school support services at the Los Angeles Unified School District. She is a longtime teacher and administrator who most recently served as associate director of the school/university partnerships program at UCLA.


Entertainment

James L. English has been named president of Playboy’s Entertainment Group. He is based in Beverly Hills and will be responsible for all aspects of the entertainment group, including production, international distribution and home video. English was president of Playboy Television before being promoted.

Dana Kasha-Murray has been promoted to director of creative services at Universal Music Publishing Group. She will be based in Los Angeles and responsible for developing and working with the company’s writers and artists concerning catalogs and new signings. Prior to her promotion, Kasha-Murray was manager of creative services.


Government

Benjamin Austin has been appointed to serve as deputy mayor for communications in the city of Los Angeles. He will work directly with Mayor Richard Riordan in overseeing the press office and other duties. Most recently, Austin was director of communications for the Democratic National Convention Host Committee.

Paul L. Green has been appointed to the newly created position of deputy executive director and chief operating officer at Los Angeles World Airports. He will oversee the administrative and operational functions of LAWA’s four facilities: Los Angeles International Airport, Ontario International Airport, and Van Nuys and Palmdale regional airports.


Health Care

Patricia Mraz has been named vice president of operations at LivHome, an in-home, elder-care company in Los Angeles. Also, Kirsten Goulde has been named vice president of human resources. Both senior management appointments were made to support LivHome’s ongoing expansion program at its four Southern California locations. Mraz previously served as the California area vice president at Gentiva Health Services. Goulde was the director of human resources at Scan Health Plan.

Martha Tasinga has been appointed vice president of medical services at L.A. Care Health Plan, a nonprofit organization that serves Los Angeles County. She will oversee medical operations. Tasinga joins the company from Cigna, where she spent over 10 years in health care management.


High Tech

Blair Taylor has been appointed vice president for the retail and consumer brands division of Guidance, a convergent business studio located in Marina del Rey. In his new role, Taylor will expand Guidance’s client base in the retail and consumer branding arenas, focusing on developing alliances with firms seeking to leverage their brand identities on the Internet. Most recently, he served as vice president of business development for Mvalue.com, a Los Angeles-based Internet company.


Law

John Grosvenor will join the Los Angeles office of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips as a corporate partner in its business, finance and real estate unit. He is coming to the company from Verizon Entertainment, where he was vice president of business and external affairs.

Deborah S. Thored-Peden has been named one of 18 new partners at Pillsbury Madison & Sutro. She will be based out of the Los Angeles office of the San Francisco-based firm and will specialize in banking, e-commerce and privacy law. She has been with the firm since 1996.


Real Estate

John Tsukahira has joined InterCoastal Group, a Los Angeles-based property and asset management company, as regional vice president. He will be handling acquisitions in addition to managing the existing portfolio. Previously, he served as an executive vice president at ASI management, an asset management company in Irvine.


Transportation

Steve Caddy has been named senior vice president of operations at Daylight Transport, a transportation and logistics company in Long Beach. He will work to integrate all aspects of Daylight’s expedited freight movement within the United States and Canada. Most recently, Caddy was senior vice president of sales and marketing at Daylight.
