Rob Yarin was named senior consultant at Frank N. Magid Associates, a media research and consulting firm in Universal City. He will advise syndication, network television, cable and new media clients on branding strategies and talent development. Yarin was previously executive producer of CNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews.”

Marylou Ferry was appointed vice president in the public affairs group at Fleishman-Hillard in Los Angeles. She will work with the government, corporate and financial relations groups in Southern California. Ferry was most recently director of corporate and political affairs at Arco.

Taj Tedrow was appointed vice president of production at DNA Studio, a media marketing company in Beverly Hills. Tedrow was previously creative director of promotions for 20th Century Fox.

Banking & Finance

Simone Lagomarsino was promoted to president and chief executive of Hawthorne Savings and Hawthorn Financial Corp. in El Segundo. She will oversee all bank operations, focusing on secured real estate loans. Lagomarsino was previously executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Construction

Deborah Broom was named associate corporate counsel at Kaufman & Broad Home Corp. in Los Angeles. She will be responsible for risk counseling and dispute resolution. Broom was previously a construction litigator with Knopfler & Robertson.

Entertainment

Michael Daruty was promoted to senior vice president of technical operations at Universal Studios Operations Group in Universal City. He will oversee technical services and special projects and be responsible for the global inventory, tracking and purchase order system.

John Hyde was appointed president and chief executive of Film Roman in Los Angeles. He will oversee the company’s film, television and online entertainment divisions. Hyde was most recently vice chairman and chief operating officer for the Producers Sales Organization.

Andrew P. Mooney was named president of Disney Consumer Products Worldwide in Burbank. He will oversee global marketing, brand management and product development for company businesses including the Disney Store and Disney Interactive. Mooney was most recently chief marketing officer and head of global apparel for Nike.

Health Care

Peter H. Germain was appointed executive vice president of Sullivan HealthCare Insurance Services in Los Angeles. He will be responsible for daily operations and raising the company’s national profile. Germain was previously senior vice president of Seabury & Smith Inc.

Hospitality

Steve Hall was appointed manager of food and beverage for the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites in Los Angeles. He will be responsible for creating and overseeing a new menu for the hotel. Hall was most recently director of food and beverage at the Boca Raton Resort in Florida.

Law

Michael H. Gottschlich, Christopher Ritter, Farah S. Nicol, Cary Glassner and Mario Horwitz were promoted to partners at Haight, Brown & Bonesteel in Santa Monica. Gottschlich focuses on product liability, real estate and commercial litigation. Ritter concentrates on commercial litigation and intellectual property counseling and litigation. Nicol specializes in environmental matters. Glassner and Horwitz both concentrate on pharmaceutical and medical device litigation.

Robin M. Schachter was named lateral partner at Troop Steuber Pasich Reddick & Tobey in Los Angeles. He focuses his practice on employee benefits and compensation, and tax-related matters. Schachter was most recently a partner with Jeffer, Mangels, Butler & Marmaro in Los Angeles.

Manufacturing

Richard Stewart was appointed vice president of sales at J. Robert Scott, a Los Angeles textile and furniture manufacturer. He will be responsible for increasing market share and strategic long-range planning. Stewart was previously principal and founder of the Stewart Group in Malibu.

Richard W. Stanton was promoted to senior vice president and chief operations officer at the Los Angeles Times. He will be responsible for production, printing, distribution and customer service operations. Stanton was previously senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Also, James D. Shaw was named senior vice president and chief financial officer. He will be responsible for finance and facilities along with financial planning and reporting. Shaw was most recently senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer for Newsday.

New Media

Linda Leigh Long was appointed president of insureon.com, an Internet venue for commercial insurance transactions in Pasadena. She will oversee all divisions, including finances, marketing, technology, sales and administration. Long was most recently marketing manager at Golden Pacific Insurance Services in Pasadena. Also, Stephen J. Saporito was named vice president of sales. He will be responsible for recruiting and managing national sales staff. Saporito was most recently marketing and underwriting manager for California Compensation in Orange.

Jim Rosenthal was promoted to president of New Line New Media in Los Angeles. He will be responsible for working with Time Warner Digital Media to build new assets and create consumer Web sites. Rosenthal was most recently executive vice president of business development.

James G. Schillreff was named vice president of sales and marketing at STV, a streaming media service company in Santa Monica. He will be responsible for developing the sales and marketing team, and building an international presence. Schillreff was previously Western regional director of the Internet industry group at Level 3 Communications in San Diego.

Nonprofit

John F. Cooke was named executive vice president of external affairs for the J. Paul Getty Trust in Los Angeles. He will be responsible for partnerships and other relationships with local, national and international cultural and corporate institutions. Cooke was previously executive vice president of corporate affairs at Walt Disney Co. in Burbank and served as a Getty trustee.

Real Estate

James R. Fuller was named a principal of Meyer Capital Partners, a real estate investment banking company in Redondo Beach. He will be responsible for deal sourcing and structuring, due diligence and closings. Fuller was most recently corporate controller at NeTrust Lease Equities in Century City.

Mary Ryan McCarthy was named executive managing director of investor services at CB Richard Ellis in Los Angeles. She will be responsible for increasing the client base. McCarthy was most recently senior vice president of Security Capital Market Group Inc. in New York.

Marc Pollock was promoted to vice president at Grubb & Ellis in West Los Angeles. He focuses on retail sales and leasing and landlord representation. Pollock was previously an associate vice president.

Recreation

Ron B. Lam was named chief financial officer and senior vice president of GameWorks in Universal City. He will be responsible for all financial matters and strategic planning, as well as industry research and business expansion. Lam was previously senior vice president and chief financial officer for Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk.

Utilities

John E. Bryson was named president of Edison International in Rosemead. He will oversee Edison International, Southern California Edison, Edison Capital and Edison Mission Energy. Bryson will continue as chairman and chief executive for the company. Also, Stephen M. McMenamin was appointed vice president. He will be responsible for creating new e-commerce business for the Edison companies. McMenamin was previously division vice president of Southern California Edison. Also, Mahvash Yazdi was promoted to senior vice president and chief information officer of Southern California Edison and Edison International. She will be responsible for all information technology at national and international levels.
