Marketing Factory Inc. has made several executive-level appointments. It has hired Edward D. Yu, who spent the last eight years at RPA as vice president and director of client services. Scott Katz, who was an associate director of operations at Omnicom, was named vice president and director of business development. Dan Nunenmacher, who was director of production and facility manager at MP3.com, is the new director of production. Jim Garfield, a television producer and fitness consultant, has been named project manager. Michael Kassan, former president and chief operating officer of Initiative Media Worldwide, was retained as a consultant.
Aerospace
Dana M. Muir, the Louis and Myrtle Moskowitz research professor of business and law and associate professor of business law at the University of Michigan Business School, has been elected to a three-year term on the non-profit Aerospace Corp.’s board of trustees.
Los Angeles World Airports has promoted Kathy Van Ness to financial manager II in its financial planning division, managing the operating budget for its four airports. Van Ness previously headed the budget and audit division at LAWA.
Banking & Finance
The American Society of Pension Actuaries has elected Laura S. Moskwa to its board. Moskwa is the director of third party administrator services for Transamerica Retirement Services.
Union Bank of California has named Louis Bernardy and Judith Luther Wilder to its Community Advisory Board. Bernardy is president and chief executive of the Los Angeles Housing Partnership, a non-profit affordable housing group, and Wilder is president of the Center for Cultural Innovation in Culver City.
Education
Lisa Madrigal, department chairwoman and professor at Mt. Sierra College, was appointed academic dean, responsible for day-to-day administration of its academics department.
Government
Gerard McCallum II has been appointed to the Los Angeles Board of Water and Power Commissioners by Mayor James Hahn. McCallum is pastor of economic development at Faithful Central Bible Church and executive vice-president of Forum Enterprises Inc.
Hospitality
Restaurant Associates/Patina has named Richard Stockinger president. Stockinger, its chief financial officer, joined the company in 1985. Paul Potvin, who joined the company in 2001, will become CFO.
Law
Peter J. Dekom has joined Weissmann Wolff Bergman Coleman Grodin & Evall as of counsel. Formerly a senior partner in Bloom Dekom Hergott & Cook, he left the practice in 1995 to consult and write.
Manufacturing
Sunset Brands Inc. has appointed Guy Conte chief operating officer. Conte was chief operating officer at ARS Consulting, where he assisted start-up companies in sales and marketing strategies.
Media
Robert Solomon has been promoted to president of Ascent Media Creative Services, overseeing day-to-day operations and strategic planning for its creative services group. He was previously executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Freddy Sidi, president of Metropolis Entertainment Inc., has been appointed to the board of StereoVision Entertainment Inc., overseeing its financing efforts. The company also set up an advisory board and named Ted Botts to manage it. Botts operates a corporate finance advisory firm.
Non-Profit
Louis Eatman, partner-in-charge of the Los Angeles office of Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw LLP, has been named president of the non-profit Constitutional Rights Foundation.
The Greater Antelope Valley Economic Alliance selected Tony Moon as its new president. Most recently, Moon was director of economic development for the city of Surprise, Ariz. Before that, he was economic development director for the city of Goodyear, also in Arizona. Both cities are near Phoenix.
Real Estate
Watson Land Co. has named Brian Parno vice president of design and construction. Most recently, Parno was vice president for Wentz Group Construction Services in Southern California.
Hector Moreno has been hired by ZipRealty as district director for its San Gabriel Valley and Inland Empire regions. Moreno was previously general manager for the Sheraton Bal Harbour Beach Resort Hotel and the W Hotel in Florida.
Edward A. Stokx has joined PS Business Parks Inc. as chief financial officer. Stokx had been CFO of Center Trust, which merged with Pan Pacific Retail Properties Inc. in January.
Technology
Global ePoint Inc., a custom computer manufacturer, has named Daryl Gates vice president of business development for its Sequent digital technology division. Gates is the former chief of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Zeros & Ones Inc. has named Scott A. Fairbairn chief technology officer. Fairbairn was a co-founder of Breakthrough Technologies Inc., recently acquired by Zeros & Ones.
Vector Resources Inc. has named Salvador Perez its Southern California sales manager, responsible for Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties. Perez has worked at Vector since 1998 as an account executive.
Utilities
Southern California Edison has named Bill Bryan vice president of the major customer division of the customer service business unit. Bryan, who joined SCE in 1966, was most recently director of government and institution accounts.
