Alex Capri has been named manager of KPMG LLP’s trade & customs practice in Century City. He will be involved in developing the firm’s West Coast trade and customs capabilities. Capri was formerly a manger with the U.S. Customs Service.

Charles Kerns has been named director of organizational consulting with the health care advisory services practice of BDO Seidman LLP in Costa Mesa. His national practice will focus on designing and implementing programs to improve organizational performance. Kerns is an adjunct professor at the George L. Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University.

Aaron Atchion has been promoted to creative director for Buz Design Group in Los Angeles. His clients include Honda, Alpine, Beverly Hilton and Pasadena’a Tournament of Roses. He was previously a designer for the firm.

Architecture

Charles Boxwell has joined RNL Design in Los Angeles as principal. He will lead the firm’s justice facility planning and design program for California and the Western United States. Boxwell has been involved in criminal justice architecture for 19 years.

Banking & Finance

Randy Roberts has been appointed executive vice president and head of the operations services division at Sanwa Bank California in Los Angeles. He will oversee the division, which provides operational support through departments, including branch support services, commercial services, and loan operations. Roberts was most recently senior vice president and director of facilities, systems and operations for Community Bank in Pasadena.

Jeffrey Peak was named president and sales representative for Scudder Defined Contribution Services in Los Angeles. He will focus on sales to mid-sized organizations, and is responsible for sales and marketing outreach to five states. Peak was formerly vice president in key asset management for KeyCorp in Santa Monica.

Consulting

Christopher Poole has been elected chairman and chief executive of Elite Information Group Inc. in Los Angeles. He was previously president and chief operating officer of Elite Information Systems Inc. Also, Barry Emerson was appointed vice president and chief financial officer and treasurer.

Raymond O’Hara has been named vice president of Pinkerton’s Inc.’s consulting and investigations division for the Western U.S. in Westlake Village. He will oversee the division’s operations throughout California. O’Hara was corporate security manager for the Weyerhaeuser Co. for 14 years.

Entertainment

Mark Ansorge has been promoted to vice president and associate counsel for Warner Music Group in Burbank. He will focus on acquisitions, new-media matters and executive employment agreements. Ansorge was most recently associate counsel.

Kerry Carr was promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer of ABC Broadcasting in Los Angeles. She was previously vice president of corporate management audit for Walt Disney Co. Also, Rick Mandler was promoted to vice president of new media. He was previously general manager of new media for the network.

Lou Mann has been named to the new post of president of House of Blues Media Properties in Los Angeles. He will oversee globally distributed media properties, including interactive broadcasting initiatives. Mann was previously senior vice president and general manager of Capitol Records.

Joseph Passarella has joined Multi-Video Group Ltd. in Los Angeles as chief marketing officer and partner. He will oversee the company’s new technology advertising efforts. He was formerly senior vice president of marketing and advertising for United Paramount Network.

Rick Ramirez has been named to the new post of vice president of Phil Roman Entertainment Co. in Studio City. His responsibilities will include all areas of business affairs, financing and development, as well as general management responsibilities. Ramirez was most recently a producer for Galavisi & #243;n.

High Tech

Peter Weedfald has been promoted to executive vice president of marketing and strategic business of ViewSonic Corp. in Walnut. He will be responsible for leading the company’s Web strategies, Internet and e-commerce initiatives as well as managing emerging business opportunities. Weedfald was previously senior vice president of global marketing.

Law

Jerry Hager has joined First Alliance Corp. in Los Angeles as general counsel. He specializes in state and federal bankruptcy litigation. Hager was formerly an attorney with Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger in Los Angeles.

Gregory McClintock is joining Mayer, Brown & Platt in Los Angeles as partner. He will also head the firm’s West Coast environmental practice. McClintock was a founding partner of the law firm McClintock, Weston, Benshoof, Rochefort, Rubalcava & MacCuish.

Media

Ali Rashid was promoted to senior vice president of operations of Weider Publications in Woodland Hills. He will manage human resources, facilities/risk management, and oversee sales operations, production and budgeting and planning for the company. Rashid was most recently vice president of finance and administration. Also, Thomas Deters was promoted to publisher and editorial director of the men’s and endemic groups. He was most recently senior vice president and group publisher and editorial director. In addition, Bobbi Gutman was promoted to executive vice president of consumer marketing and business development. She will lead efforts in developing new business opportunities.

New Media

Scott Darling was appointed vice president of business development and professional services for Sandpiper in Thousand Oaks. His responsibilities will include managing the company’s new professional services group, formed to work with the company’s content delivery network. Darling previously worked at MCI/Systemhouse as a managing director.

Sandy Gomberg has been named director of marketing for Verio Inc.’s Pacific region in Los Angeles. He was previously senior marketing consultant for Mueller/Shields Advertising in Calabasas. Also, Larry Nelson was named branch sales manager. He was most recently regional world freight sales manager at DHL Worldwide Express in Hawthorne.

Joshua Benegal Marks was appointed president and chief operating officer of Virtualis Systems Inc. in Studio City. He will oversee the company’s strategic developments, and manage the development of proprietary site management and e-commerce software. Marks was previously a director with the firm.

Non-Profits

Linda Raffel has been appointed director of legal, medical, dental, and health services for the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. She will help raise annual funds for the federation’s programs. Rafel was previously a registered representative at Israel Bonds.

Karen Ramage has been named vice president of Pdqcareers.com, the commercial division of PDQ Personnel Services Inc. in Los Angeles. She was most recently chief operating officer of Technical Training Institute of California.

Adam Yatsko has joined Robert Half International in Los Angeles as branch manager. He will be responsible for overseeing the recruitment and placement of candidates and developing client relationships for the downtown L.A. area. Yatsko was previously regional manager for Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Real Estate

Joey Albert has joined Fred Sands Realtors in Los Angeles as vice president of information technology. He is currently developing new technology systems for the company.

George Garvin has been promoted to associate vice president of Grubb & Ellis Co. in Los Angeles. He specializes in Southern California retail investment properties. Garvin has been an investment specialist with the firm since 1993.

John Gebhardt was named senior vice president of J.H. Snyder Co. in Los Angeles. He will be involved in new development projects for the company. Gebhardt was previously managing director of CB Richard Ellis in West Los Angeles.

Robert Gene Caudill has joined Douglas-Mile High Properties in Los Angeles as regional director of leasing services. He will develop an asset services group to provide leasing and acquisition services with L.A. and Orange counties. Caudill was previously senior vice president and director of leasing for Jones Lang Wootton.

Robert Hervey was promoted to regional manager of Northland/Marquette in Los Angeles. He was most recently senior vice president. Also, Richard Scandaliato was promoted to vice president. He was previously assistant vice president.

The appraisal team of Charles Reinagel, Andrew Harper and Alex Saunders has joined Cushman & Wakefield in downtown Los Angeles. They will specialize in commercial properties and litigation support. Reinagel, Harper and Saunders were previously with CB Richard Ellis.

Retail

Ted Jackson was named director of information systems and chief information officer for Sport Chalet in Los Angeles. He is responsible for all aspects of the company’s information systems. Jackson was most recently director of retail solutions support for Walker Interactive Systems.
