Universal Studios Hollywood hired Bryan O’Connell as vice president, sales, and Amy Cox as vice president, partnership marketing and promotions. O’Connell was previously vice president and general manager at Coach USA Southern California and Cox was principal and founder at Icon Group in Los Angeles.


Movielink, a broadband video-on-demand download service based in Santa Monica, promoted Bryan Spaulding to senior vice president, architecture and Bruce Anderson to senior vice president, engineering and operations. Spaulding was previously vice president, architecture and Anderson was previously vice president, Web engineering and operations.


CenterStaging Musical Productions Inc., a Burbank-based rehearsal and production services company, hired Tommy Nast as executive vice president, business development. Nast was previously executive vice president of business development at AEG Live.


JibJab Media, a digital studio in Santa Monica known for its animation parodies, hired Aaron Simpson as vice president, animation production and development. Simpson was previously a producer of “Coconut Fred’s Fruit Salad Island” at Warner Bros. Animation Studios.


Granada America, a Sherman-Oaks producer of dramas, reality shows, comedies and documentaries for the American market, promoted Sam Zoda to executive vice president, West Coast. Zoda was previously senior vice president of production.

Quateman LLP, a Century City firm specializing in corporate, finance and real estate law, promoted Tracey M. Ginn to partner. Ginn was previously an associate.


Jeffer Mangels Butler & Marmaro LLP in Los Angeles hired Sheri Bonstelle as an associate in its government, land use, environment and energy group. Bonstelle was previously at Allen Matkins in Los Angeles.


Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps LLP in Los Angeles elected Kathy A. Jorrie to serve on the firm’s four-person executive committee. Jorrie is a partner in charge of Luce Forward’s Los Angeles office.



Marketing


Asia Sports & Entertainment, a sports marketing firm in Pasadena, added Fred Claire and Jonathan Kaji to the company’s advisory board. Claire, former general manager of the Dodgers, is a columnist and host of “The GM Corner” for Major League Baseball.com. Kaji is president of consulting firm Kaji & Associates in Los Angeles.

Easter Seals Southern California appointed Bambi Holzer and Kimberly Michel to its board. Holzer is head of Bambi Holzer Financial Group in Beverly Hills and Michel is chief executive and president of Michel Financial Group in Century City.



Public Relations


Valencia Perez & Echeveste Public Relations, a national Latino public relations firm based in South Pasadena, promoted Delia Lopez to account director responsible for managing the consumer strategies division, and hired Carlos Munguia as assistant account executive in the social marketing and public affairs divisions. Lopez was previously supervisor of the consumer strategies division and Munguia was previously an intern at the company.



Real Estate


Macerich Co. in Santa Monica promoted Ron Collins to manager, property management at Panorama Mall in Panorama City. Collins was previously operations manager at Panorama Mall.

KUDOS:


The City of Los Angeles honored the Chatsworth Build WorkSource Center, a provider of business services and training to people seeking employment, with a proclamation for outstanding service to the people of Los Angeles and specifically the San Fernando Valley.


Carol Ensign, executive director of the Antelope Valley domestic violence council, received a $500 donation from the Los Angeles County Fifth District Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich and Commissioners Reiko Duba, Wadie Gravely and Peggy Freeman. The honor was granted for Ensign’s work on behalf of women, focusing on violent crimes and providing investigation, crisis intervention, victim advocacy, resources, referral assistance and counseling.


The Los Angeles County Commission for Women recently honored its “Women of the Year.” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Irma Becerra was named the Sixth Annual President’s Awardee. Also honored were Martha M. Escutia, Gloria J. Davis, Maria Reza, Doris Wahl, Peg Ann Lee, Alison Triessl, Janice Bryant Howroyd, Marilyn McCoo Davis, Kimberly Wong, Diane Schneider and Jeannie Stephenson, for serving as outstanding role models for women, working on behalf of women’s issues and demonstrating outstanding performance within their sphere of influence.


The Anti-Defamation League awarded the ADL Helene and Joseph Sherwood Prize for combating hate to Sgt. Brian Moriguchi, Supervisory Special Agent Kendrick Williams, Deputy Joel Barnett and Deputy Ramon Chavez, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the FBI Hate Crimes Task Force, the Riverside Arson Task Force, and the Public Corruption & Civil Rights section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Central District of California.


Chris Madison, president and chief executive of ColorGraphics Inc. in Los Angeles, received the 2006 Executive of the Year award at the Printing Industry Association Inc. of Southern California Graphics Night, for his leadership in the printing community.
