Architecture


PBWS Architects in Pasadena hired Barton T. Anderson as principal of the firm’s education design studio. Anderson previously was regional vice president at HMC Architects in Pasadena.



Banking & Finance


Comerica Bank named Charles E. Pohl executive vice president and manager of the Financial Services Division in El Segundo. Pohl was previously based out of Costa Mesa as senior vice president of middle market banking for Comerica for Orange and San Diego counties. The company also promoted Joseph Yurosek to regional group manager of middle market banking in Los Angeles and Long Beach. Yurosek will be based in downtown Los Angeles. He was previously senior vice president for the middle market region in Long Beach.


The Los Angeles office of Protiviti Inc., an internal audit and risk consulting firm, promoted Steven La France to associate director, Maria Dimaano and Kathleen Koerber to senior managers, and Robert Dwyer and Jonathan Jayasinghe to managers. La France was previously a senior manager. Dimaano and Koerber were previously managers. Dwyer and Jayasinghe were senior consultants.


Rossi Doskocil & Finkelstein LLP, a Long-Beach based CPA firm, promoted Craig H. Suen to partner. He was previously senior manager.


Legg Mason Real Estate Investors Inc. hired Craig Oram as a principal in the Los Angeles office. Oram was formerly a director in the New York office of Andersen Corporate Finance LLC, a middle market investment bank.



Consulting


Challenger Gray & Christmas Inc., a global outplacement firm based in Los Angeles, hired Susan Guenther as a vice president. Guenther was previously president of the Newport Beach-based EducationTrak.com, an online subscription service for children in grades K-12.



Entertainment


THQ Inc., a global developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software based in Calabasas Hills, hired Kelly Flock to the new position of executive vice president of worldwide publishing. Flock was previously president and chief executive of Sony Online Entertainment in San Diego.



Government


The Los Angeles County Commission on Insurance has re-elected Scott J. Svonkin as chairman. Svonkin is the president of Svonkin Consulting, a marketing and public affairs firm.


Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Susan Dolgen of Encino to the board of the California State Summer School for the Arts, and Robert Stein of Los Angeles to the board of the California Science Center. Dolgen is president and owner of Access & Answers, a consulting and marketing firm in Beverly Hills. Stein is vice president of motion pictures at the Paradigm Literary and Talent Agency in Beverly Hills.



Health Care


Medical Diagnostic Associate, an MRI and CT practice based in Woodland Hills, hired Carol A. Novoa as vice president of sales and practice development. Novoa most recently ran a consulting firm she had founded.


Los Angeles-based Herbalife Ltd. hired Patrick R. Dailey as senior vice president, human resources. Dailey was formerly vice president, global workforce management for Hewlett-Packard Co. in Palo Alto.


LivHome Inc., a national at-home senior services company based in Los Angeles, promoted Anne Haliburton to senior vice president of operations. Haliburton was previously executive vice president of operations and western regional vice president.



Hospitality


Rausch Purchasing Management Inc., a Los Angeles-based purchasing agency in the hospitality industry, has named Peter Sullivan as director of purchasing and Bill O’Brien as director of operations and development. Sullivan was previously general manager at Argent Custom Furniture in Los Angeles. O’Brien was previously director of development at Hampton Lane, a Glendale vendor of custom metal retail displays.



Law


Loeb & Loeb LLP, a national law firm, promoted Karen R. Thorland to partner in the Los Angeles office. Thorland was previously an associate.


Phillips Lerner Lauzon & Jamra LLP, a family law firm based in Century City, selected Grace A. Jamra as a name partner. Jamra had been a partner at the firm since December 2001.


Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner LLP hired Stephen P. Rothman as a partner in the corporate department of the firm’s Los Angeles office. He was formerly in private practice.


Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham’s Los Angeles office hired Andrew Lurie as of counsel. Lurie was previously a partner in the Los Angeles office of Baker & Hostetler.


Proskauer Rose LLP named Bert H. Deixler head of the international law firm’s Los Angeles office. Deixler is a partner in the litigation department of the firm.


Pircher Nichols & Meeks, a national real estate law firm, hired Jeffrey N. Brown to its Los Angeles office. Brown was previously a partner at Morgan Lewis’ Los Angeles office.



Manufacturing


Citizen Systems America Corp., a printing solutions supplier based in Torrance, hired Tony Petro as printer mechanism sales manager. Petro previously was product manager for Intel Corp. in Folsom.



Non-Profit


The California Association of Physician Groups appointed Richard Swanson to vice president. He was previously chief operating officer of Facey Medical Foundation Inc. in Mission Hills.


The Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce appointed Fred Abdelnour education fund chairman for the 2005-2007 term. Abdelnour is director of community relations for Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Carson.


Eimago Inc., which provides support services for the homeless and other low-income people, hired Carrie Gatlin as vice president. Gatlin was previously program and development director at Midnight Mission in Los Angeles.



Public Relations


Cerrell Associates, an independent public relations firm in Los Angeles, promoted Forrest Beanum to senior account executive from account executive and Nobar Elmi to account executive from assistant account executive.



Retail


City of Industry-based retail chain Hot Topic Inc. hired Maria Comfort as senior vice president, chief merchandise officer of the Hot Topic Division. Comfort was executive vice president, general merchandise manager at Lillie Rubin. Cindy Levitt has been appointed to the new position of vice president of licensing for Hot Topic; she will also handle marketing.
