Gruen Associates, a Los Angeles-based architectural and urban design planning services company, hired Christopher W. Coe as a partner. He previously served as managing director and director of design of the Los Angeles office of Arquitectonica.



Entertainment


Activision Inc., a Santa Monica-based developer, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment, has named Michael Griffith president and chief executive of

the publishing unit. Griffith was previously president of the global beverage division at Procter & Gamble Co. in Cincinnati. Ron Doornick was appointed chairman of

Activision Publishing. Doornick has served as chief executive of Activision Publishing since 2002.


New Wave Entertainment, a Los Angeles-based entertainment marketing and production firm, hired David Stern as general counsel and head of business affairs. Stern was senior vice president of business affairs for Showtime in Los Angeles.



Finance


Deloitte Financial Advisory Services, a Los Angeles-based arm of Deloitte & Touche that provides economic and financial advice to clients, appointed Don Mullinax as principal in its forensic and dispute services practice. He previously served as the inspector general of the Los Angeles Unified School District.



Health Care


Iris International Inc., a Chatsworth-based manufacturer and marketer of automated urinalysis systems, has named Bernard M. Alfano president of its new diagnostics business unit. He was previously vice president of global sales and services.


Brandlin & Associates, a Los Angeles-based investigative accounting and consulting firm, named Pat Aubort and Tom Pedersen as principals to its new health care specialty services division. Both Aubort and Pedersen come from Phoenix Healthcare Consulting in Manhattan Beach, where Pedersen was a managing member and Aubort was co-founder.


The Cooperative of American Physicians Inc., a Los Angeles-based organization that promotes health care risk management, elected John E. Ingram president and chairman. Ingram is a Long Beach urologist.


Hythiam Inc., a Los Angeles-based healthcare management company, has hired four senior executives. Richard A. Anderson will serve as chief administrative officer. He was previously director and chief financial officer of Clearant Inc. Alexander A. Harpe was named senior vice president of business development. He had been vice president of corporate business development at Fujitsu World Wide. Jane Hart was named vice president of national site management. She was previously regional sales director for Sanofi-Synthelabo Inc. Michael E. Green is now director of business development. He was previously with Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceutical.



Insurance


Answer Financial, an Encino-based online insurance agency, named Ken Rogers chief marketing officer. Rogers was formerly corporate vice president of worldwide marketing at Mars Inc. in Virginia.



Internet


Jambo has hired Stacy Haitsuka to the post of chief information officer. The former NetZero co-founder had been working as a private investor through Westlake Venture Partners in Westlake Village. Haitsuka will be working out of Jambo’s headquarters in Agoura Hills.


Youbet.com Inc., a Woodland Hills-based company that takes online bets on horse races, promoted Jeff True to vice president. True will continue to serve as western region general manager for youbet.com.



Law


Alschuler Grossman Stein & Kahan, a Santa Monica-based firm specializing in business and entertainment litigation, named William Mark Levinson chair of its corporate finance practice. Levinson had been a partner in the Los Angeles office of Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps.


Bingham McCutchen named David K. Robbins and Stephen D. Alexander partners in its Los Angeles office. Both Robbins and Alexander were previously partners in the Los Angeles office of Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson.



Manufacturing


Syntax Groups Corp., a City of Industry-based manufacturer of LCD TVs, named Samuel Miller chief product officer. Before joining Syntax, Miller was at Viewsonic, where he was director of technical marketing.



Media


LA Weekly, a free weekly publication distributed throughout Los Angeles, named Scott Foundas as film editor. Foundas was previously a staff writer at the paper.



Non-Profit


Catholic Big Brothers Big Sisters announced four appointments to its board: Joseph M. Boskovich Jr. is vice president of Aletheia Research and Management. Lewis Horne is executive managing director of at CB Richard Ellis. Cherilynn Kehrli is a counsel at Warner Home Video. And Gregory Pena is president of USI Holdings Corp.


The American Red Cross of Santa Monica added five new members to its board: Julie Pomfret is a financial advisor for Morgan Stanley in Santa Monica. Eric Faber is founder and chief executive of the Faber Group/Packaging Resources. Luis Ramirez is an assistant principal with the Santa Monica/Malibu Unified School District, and Andrea Paglian and Sidney Kump are both students at Crossroads School in Santa Monica.



Real Estate


Passco Real Estate Enterprises Inc. in Irvine, a real estate operating company, recently appointed Gary H. Goodman as vice president of acquisitions for multifamily properties. Goodman was most recently vice president of acquisitions at Steadfast Residential Properties in Newport Beach.


Granite Peak Partners, a Marina del Rey-based real estate investment firm, appointed Wylie Greig to its advisory board. Greig was formerly global director of research for DB Real Estate as well as a member of the firm’s global advisory team.


Ramsey-Shilling Commercial Real Estate, a Los Angeles-based real estate marketing and consulting firm, named Seth Polen director of its newly established Multi-Family Investment Division. He was previously a director of the national multi-housing group at Marcus & Millichap in Los Angeles. Three other commercial agents were promoted as well. Mark Evanoff was named senior vice president. Evanoff was vice president and specialized in representing owners and landlords in the Glendale-Burbank-Pasadena area. Steven P. Tronson and Tony Kim were given the position of vice president. Tronson and Kim were both senior associates.



Sports


The Anti Gravity Sports Complex Dance Team in Valencia has named Terry Bixler as dance director. Bixler will continue to maintain his own business, New World Dance in Canyon Country.



Technology


Aerospace Corp., an El Segundo-based company providing technical analyses for national security space programs, appointed Andrew J. Schickling principal director of Navy space systems. Schickling was previously principal director of the space-based infrared system high space segment. Kevin M. Severin was named principal director of the network systems and services subdivision. Severin was formerly vice president of infrastructure and engineering at Digital Boardwalk in Santa Monica.



Telecommunications


The Walt Disney Internet Group appointed three new executives to its North Hollywood-based Disney Mobile business. George Grobar will lead the venture as senior vice president and general manager of Disney Mobile, the first U.S. wireless phone service specifically designed for families. Grobar was previously vice president and general manager of Disney Auctions. Rod Egdorf will take the post of vice president and chief marketing officer for Disney Mobile. Egdorf was previously a vice president at General Motor’s OnStar. And Sunir Kochar is now vice president of product development and operations at Disney Mobile. Kochar was most recently chief operating officer of Iris Wireless.



Trade


The Asia Society Southern California appointed Donald Tang as chairman and Deborah Jordan as executive director. Tang is vice chairman of Bear Stearns & Co. Inc. Jordan was most recently director of external affairs and events for the Milken Institute.
