BDO Seidman has admitted five new partners at its Century City office. Arya Farinpour, Chris Lord, and Mike Pelphrey are specializing in the area of business and technology solutions. Gary Freeman has been made a partner in the audit and assurance services division, and Michael Kerekes is in the tax department.
The Los Angeles office of Singer Lewak Greenbaum & Goldstein has announced three promotions. Monique Morgner to the firm’s SEC department, and Sidharth Lal and Sonia Luna to the accounting and auditing department.
Deloitte & Touche has appointed eight new tax partners in its downtown Los Angeles office. Scott Browning specializes in estate and trust, Tom Condon focuses on manufacturing, high-tech and biotech, Frank Di Ferdinando specializes in mergers and acquisitions, Jim Fier works in the multi-state tax group, Paul Hurst focuses on real estate, Diana Malouly specializes in international tax consulting, Eric Peterson specializes in research and development tax credit studies, and Teresa Young specializes in health care and non-profit organizations.
P. Gregory Garrison has been named managing partner of the Los Angeles office of the newly merged firms Price Waterhouse and Coopers & Lybrand. The professional services firm is now called PricewaterhouseCoopers. Most recently, Garrison was the managing partner of Price Waterhouse Los Angeles.
Mark Previty has been named vice president of special projects with the Buxbaum Group, an Encino-based retailing and consumer products consulting firm. He will be responsible for the financial oversight of a variety of special consulting projects in addition to performing evaluations of companies seeking asset-based financing. Prior to joining Buxbaum, he was director of finance administration for restaurant operator Ruby Tuesday Inc.
Richard F. Wortham has joined the Los Angeles office of Carter & Burgess Inc. He will serve as project coordinator and will specialize in telecommunications, rail and facility projects for the construction management division. Prior to joining Carter & Burgess, he was senior utility coordinator on the Alameda Corridor transportation project.

Bruce D. Smith has joined the Los Angeles office of Jefferies & Co. as vice president and senior analyst in the business and information services group. He will be leading the company’s coverage of the Internet software and services industry. Smith was previously at Merrill Lynch & Co.

Michael C. Forman has been named vice president of current programming at UPN. Previously, he was vice president of prime-time series programs at NBC Studios. There, he was responsible for supervising the creative and production elements of the series “Profiler” and “Conrad Bloom.”
Susan Frank has been named executive vice president of corporate marketing worldwide for Jim Henson Co. She will be based in Los Angeles and will be responsible for all global marketing of theatrical, television, and video products. Prior to joining the company, Frank served as executive vice president of marketing and promotions worldwide for the Fox Children’s Network.
Health Care
Tom Otway has been named vice president of Keenan Health Care, a division of Keenan & Associates, an insurance brokerage and consulting firm. Working out of the Pasadena office, he will analyze managed care contracts, design and negotiate coverages and programs, and oversee claims and recovery services. Most recently, he was vice president of business strategy at Program Beta, an insurer that specializes in services for hospital districts.
Law
Roderick G. Dorman has joined the Los Angeles office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP as a partner in its litigation department. He will concentrate on intellectual property, antitrust and business tort disputes. Prior to joining O’Melveny & Myers, Dorman was a litigation partner at Christie, Parker & Hale, a patent firm.
Geoffrey W. Gill has joined the Long Beach law firm of Fields Israel & Binning LLP. He will head the firm’s admiralty and maritime practice. Formerly, he was managing partner of the Long Beach office of Kirlin, Campbell & Keating.
Joseph Lynyak III has joined the Los Angeles office of Buchalter, Nemer, Fields & Younger as a shareholder in the bank and finance group. Lynyak specializes in representing financial institutions, and provides advice in areas such as strategic planning, application and licensing, commercial and consumer lending and general corporate matters.
Tom Masenga has rejoined the Los Angeles office of Allen, Matkins, Leck, Gamble & Mallory LLP, a business and real estate law firm. His practice will focus on real estate investment and finance, including acquisition, development, leasing, management and sales. Most recently, he was a partner with Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue.

Bryan Rolfe has been appointed vice president of new product development at Coastcast Corp., a Rancho Dominguez-based firm that produces golf club heads, orthopedic implants and surgical tools. He will be involved in the company’s investment-casting capabilities and in the development and commercialization of titanium and other alloys. Most recently, Rolf held both executive and consulting positions at Slotline Golf Co.

Erika Laird Temm has been named director of client services for Long Beach-based Adler Public Affairs. Prior to joining Adler, Temm was strategic planning manager for a gaming firm.
Real Estate
Jeffrey Kreshek has been named vice president of development and operations at Beverly Hills-based Regent Properties Inc. Prior to joining Regent, Kreshek was the founder and principal partner of Vision Property Management Inc.
Rick Hedrick and John M Pierce III have joined Carson Cos., an industrial real estate development firm in Rancho Dominguez. Hedrick will be responsible for managing of nearly 3 million square feet of commercial and industrial property. He was previously a property manager with Premisys Real Estate Services Inc. Pierce joins as a project manager in the company’s development and marketing division and will manage the development of industrial buildings in the Dominguez Technology Center in Rancho Dominguez. Most recently, he was the director of development for Pacific Hospitality Group LLC.

Ron Mann has been appointed senior vice president and general merchandise manager at the La Ca & #324;ada headquarters of Sport Chalet Inc. He previously served as merchandise manager with Big-5 Sporting Goods in El Segundo.
